Fifty-six years ago: “Bloody Sunday”. This past weekend marked the commemoration of a day when civil rights marchers, seeking the right to vote, were attacked by Alabama state troopers.
Missing this year, was one very notable voice, that of John Lewis, 1940~2020, former congressman, civil rights leader and American icon. His words will ever be remembered.
“We are one people with one family. We all live in the same house… and through books, through information, we must find a way to say to people that we must lay down the burden of hate. For hate is too heavy a burden to bear."
