School Continues  at All Saints
An Update on Academics
Like all schools in Virginia, All Saints has closed its physical doors for the rest of this school year. Yet, school continues! Here are some of the steps All Saints has taken since our closure on March 13:
  • Students left school on March 13th with their backpacks full of books and supplies and the hope that they would be returning soon......
  • Monday, March 16th: teachers begin sending online assignments for the next two weeks
  • Friday, March 20th: feedback is sought from parents via an online survey about what has worked and what has not during our first week of "virtual school" 
  • Monday, March 23rd: the Governor closes schools for the rest of the school year; All Saints faculty and staff begin to make more long-term plans
  • More Chromebooks are checked-out to families who need them
  • Friday, March 27th: 3rd quarter report cards are issued including 1st and 2nd honors and other awards
  • Teachers reach out to students individually to personally "check-in"
  • Saturday, March 28th: with the feedback from parents and teachers, a new school-wide online teaching schedule is rolled-out with an emphasis on regular math and reading instruction and project-based learning in other subjects
  • Monday, March 30th: Teachers begin online instruction using Zoom
  • The School's Advisory Board held a special meeting on April 3 to receive updates and lend assistance
  • Teachers engage in weekly courses to strengthen their online teaching skills
  • Spring Break continues as scheduled from noon on Thursday April 9 through Sunday, April 19

A great deal has occurred in just three weeks! All Saints continues to seek ways to improve the learning experience for students, parents and faculty. We look forward to working together to continue to provide quality education that prepares students for next year and beyond.

Staying Connected

As in any time of crisis, it's critically important to stay connected. All Saints uses many platforms to stay in touch with families, alumni and supporters. The school administration sends important updates to parents via e-mail through a program called RenWeb. In addition, All Saints stays connected in these ways:

All Saints website. Current families can find the latest updates under the "Wednesday News." They'll also find the school calendar and can even re-visit photos from year's past. Prospective families can find enrollment information and make inquiries.

All Saints YouTube station: Principal Kelleher posts periodic video messages that can be found here. Also, see past videos made by the school.

Recently, Ms. Patterson, the kindergarten teacher, has been posting about the chicken eggs she and her students incubated earlier this spring. They are hatching--just in time for Easter!

Supporting All Saints

All Saints has been so blessed to have so many generous supporters over the years. With 70% of our students receiving financial assistance, we know that many families will struggle during this crisis. The administration is working with families who are furloughed or laid-off to postpone or ease tuition payments.
