Sixteenth Sunday after Pentecost

Weekly Chimes

Grace and peace and good health are my greeting to you today.

September is always busy, even in our "quarantine mode." Parents of young school age children say they have renewed appreciation for teachers (as they discover how much work it takes to help with school work while doing their own jobs). Some youth sports leagues are running and therefore those parents are also running. At ODEC, the Day School start-up, ongoing construction work, keeping daily prayers online, and new ventures for the Fall are keeping your staff consumed as well.

We are trying out a number of new or re-new-ed activities to see what you can and will participate in that fit your life and spiritual needs. A weekly Bible Study begins next Tuesday with video to watch and Thursday ZOOM discussion groups at 11:00AM and 7:00PM to hopefully give everyone a chance to participate.

"Gospel to Go" bags for young children's formation are ready. The bags have materials for a home altar. To pick one up, contact Mother Ashley, or grab it on Sunday morning after the 10:00 worship service.

Unfortunately weather gets in the way. "Top Gun" was scheduled for Friday night at the movies. That will have to wait a week as hurricane "Sally" rolls into our area from the Gulf Coast.

We are also beginning a series of Confirmation classes for youth (and a separate one for adults). If you are in 11th or 12th grade in High School and wish to be confirmed on November 1, please send me or Ashley an email right away. Classes are three Sunday afternoons to talk about Jesus, faith, the Episcopal Church's way of living a faithful life in the world, and why Confirmation makes sense.

We will also have a similar routine for adults seeking Confirmation or wanting to affirm their faith journey in our branch of Christianity. Look for more on that or speak to one of us.

DOGS, CATS, PETS of all kind!
St. Francis' Sunday is coming in three weeks. Please email us with a picture of your pets (with you, too, if you will) for a photo slide show to be used in our worship October 4.

I am grateful for all of you who are able to join us for worship online or in-person. And I pray for all of you regularly as we make our way through this maze of crazy times. Keep safe and keep faithful.

Peace, Bob+
