WHY DO WE RATTLE?
I've suggested rattling your space before you begin
work in your journal or rattling when you are feeling
lonely or frustrated.
But what does it
"
DO"?
Many ancient cultures use the sacred rattle during
ritual as a portal for moving into an altered state.
For our purpose, rattling creates a healing vibration
which enlivens our body and our space. It can create a shift in attitude and emotion.
Physically rattling our space also lifts dormant energy and signals a clear
intention when entering the creative process, an altered state, in and of itself.
We can rattle to facilitate letting go of control, releasing fear,
asking our ego to step aside or to gain courage to take a creative risk.
As part of my creative practice, I rattle my walls, my supplies and my ongoing art.
I rattle around my torso, my legs and arms, back up around my neck and head.
I give thanks for the healing vibration in my body's cells and in the space around me.
I always feel a shift in well being, a lightness or the gift of a gentle focus.
