It's almost time to ski! We're here with some important Community Nordic Trails updates.
SUMMER & FALL WORK
PISTEN BULLY
Our 2010 Pisten Bully received a major overhaul at Peterson Equipment in Logan, Utah:
  • 8 new solid rubber wheels to replace old pneumatic tires that were prone to getting flats
  • New windshield (replaced original that had been cracked for several years)
  • Hoses and rubber parts affected by sun and age were replaced
  • Hydraulic and mechanical systems given clean bill of health with new filters, fluids and seals.
  • Cost: $24,000.
TRAILERS & SNOWMOBILES
Trailers:
BSF owns 2 snowmobile trailers and 1 tilt trailer for towing the Pisten Bully. All trailers were overhauled this summer with new wiring, hydraulics and upgraded ramps for easier and safer use.

Snowmobiles:
BSF owns 3 Arctic Cat Bearcat "Groomer Specials" and 2 Yamaha VK Pros. All were sent in for seasonal maintenance, some new clutches, and a clean bill of health.

Note: We had planned to buy 2 new grooming snowmobiles this season, however, due to supply chain issues, this has been pushed back to 2022
TRAIL MAINTENANCE
Sourdough was mowed and rocks cleared in late September. We mowed and marked Highland Glen & Sunset Hills mid-October. And we anticipate another round of maintenance in Sourdough to clear rocks and such after the logging closure.
We also added a new community bench at Sunset Hills.
2021-22 PLAN
Snowmaking at Sunset Hills:
We already completed a training refresher for snowmaking with our staff and snowmaking volunteers on Halloween. Thanks, all! We'll be ready to get things rolling once it turns cold for an extended period. We learned last year that it's most efficient to have temperatures below 25F; otherwise it's a lot of work and water for very little snow.

Outside Kind Campaign
BSF is a charter member of the Outside Kind Alliance, and we'll be promoting Ski Kind principles throughout the winter to support friendly trail use. (More on that below.)

Grooming Report
Coming soon: a real-time grooming report. We contracted with Nordic Pulse, a Nordic grooming app, and the BSF website will soon feature a grooming report with color-coded maps showing you which trails were most recently groomed. Groomers will be able to sync their grooming route to the app as soon as they finish grooming.

GET THE PASS
Don't forget to purchase your voluntary trail pass for Community Nordic Trails. Voluntary means anyone can ski, no matter their financial situation. But this only works if we get enough skier buy-in to ensure that BSF raises enough funds to cover grooming costs for the year. If we don't hit our budget numbers, there will be less grooming.

Huge thanks to Dee-O-Gee and Oböz for sponsoring the Trail Passes this year!

$50 for an individual
$100 for a family

*You can also make a donation of any amount at the pass checkout--in lieu of, or in addition to, your trail pass.
OUTSIDE KIND
Bridger Ski Foundation is one of several founding partners in Gallatin Valley's Outside Kind Alliance. We joined forces to protect the people and places we love and to explore ethical use issues that all recreational users need to know about. Look for more educational materials and signage for Ski Kind this winter!
