MUNICIPAL INCOME TAX WITHHOLDING UPDATE
Almost one year ago to the day of this article, the coronavirus forced Ohio’s employers to ask themselves if they were essential businesses, and if not, to send employees home to work remotely. This massive disruption to the local income tax withholding ecosystem required a temporary solution to maintain the status quo of that ecosystem.

EMERGENCY GRANT PROGRAMS PASS THE SENATE
The Ohio Senate unanimously passed Senate Bill 108 and Senate Bill 109 on March 17. Both bills would authorize emergency grants to be utilized by adversely impacted industries by the COVID-19 pandemic.

DEWINE MAKES PRO-BUSINESS BILL THE FIRST LAW ENACTED IN 134TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY
On March 16th, Governor DeWine signed into law Senate Bill 13. The Ohio Chamber priority bill makes pro-business reforms to Ohio’s contract law by lowering the statute of limitation on written contracts from eight years to six years.

OHIO CHAMBER TESTIFIES IN SUPPORT OF KEEPING LINE 5 OPERATIONAL
On March 16th, the Ohio Chamber of Commerce testified as a proponent to House Resolution 13, which urges Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, and the director of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources to keep Enbridge Line 5 operational.
