USHJA Recognized Riding Academy Spotlight: Cornerstone Farm South LLC
We heard from Leslie Terry, with Cornerstone Farm South LLC, a USHJA Recognized Riding Academy in Naples, Florida.

Tell us a little about your program and who you serve.
We are located in downtown Naples five minutes from the beach! We have been in Naples over 25 years and have students that started in the program in pre-K and still ride with us today as adults out of college! We host an IHSA Team (Ave Maria University) and have 14 wonderful "vintage" lesson horses that do not mind all the traffic and busy-ness of being downtown.

What made you want to become a Recognized Riding Academy?
I feel it is important to have high standards for care, for the level of experience for instructors, for the attention to detail for riders/parents. I also feel that programs should be recognized that teach both mounted and unmounted instruction. I think it is difficult to achieve both goals for the recreational rider and the top level show rider at same facility - but we are very good at managing all our programs and have all our riders appreciate each other and our staff - we are FAMILY.

Briefly tell us about your star lesson horse and why he/she is the best lesson horse around!
Too hard to choose! Penny is 26 years old and the BEST teacher; Quigley is so kind even a four year old child can lead him to the paddock and he will never try to eat grass (supervised of course!); Ebony INSISTS that canter departures be done correctly - no leaning up her neck! Navajo and ET teach kids that they have to pay attention as they only wander if allowed to do so!

USHJA Outreach Member Spotlight
Skylar Fivecoat, of Joelton, Tennessee, was reserve champion in the 2020 USHJA Hunters Walk/Trot section.

What did you enjoy about participating in the Outreach program in 2020?
I enjoyed getting to travel to Georgia for shows and earning two USHJA Reserve Champion ribbons.

Tell us how you got involved in the sport.
My Mom rode and competed for many years, so she started me in riding lessons at the age of 4. 2020 was my first year of showing.

What’s your favorite riding memory?
My favorite riding memory so far is winning two division Champion ribbons in one day.

What are your riding goals for this year?
My riding goals are to continue improving in my abilities as a rider, but most importantly, I want to have fun doing it!

What do you enjoy most about the USHJA community?
I love that I can earn USHJA points which I can track online, and I get to compete with a lot of the same people, so I can now put names with faces.
