National Foster Care Month
May is National Foster Care Month—a time to recognize the members of our communities who help children in foster care find permanent homes and connections.

CASA volunteers play a critical role in the lives of children and youth in foster care by ensuring their voices are heard on the road to permanency. When CASA volunteers are appointed by judges, they get to know the child and advocate for their best interests in court reports until the case is closed. Every detail a CASA volunteer includes in court reports helps the judge make important decisions about the child's future.
For many children in foster care, their CASA volunteer is the only consistent adult in their life. Having a caring advocate by their side—someone who listens, checks in, and speaks up for what they need to heal and thrive—can make all the difference.

We thank the dedicated CASA volunteers in our community and beyond who work hard to change the stories of children and youth in foster care. Learn more about National Foster Care Month at www.childwelfare.gov/fostercaremonth
22 NEW CASA Volunteers Sworn In
Our spring trainees were officially sworn in as CASA volunteers this month! These 22 dedicated community members from Brown and Marinette Counties are about to make a lasting difference in the lives of abused and neglected children under court protection.

We can’t thank them enough for embarking on the journey to change a child’s story.

Intern Spotlights
Congratulations to our interns, Hattie Kruschek and Marcus Willams, who recently graduated from St. Norbert College!
Hattie, a global business major, began serving as a program intern at CASA in August of 2020.

“My biggest takeaway from my time with CASA is that everyone wants to be loved. We all show and experience love in different ways. I’ve learned a lot about myself and the resilience of children who have experienced trauma. Saying you care is one thing, but consistently showing up is another and that is what requires work."
Marcus, a political science major, served as an intern during the 2021 spring semester and worked with youth in our Fostering Futures program.

“Life is an adventure, with extreme highs but also some extreme lows. Through patience, kindness, and an open heart we can help each other navigate through this big crazy world while also fulfilling our own self-gratification. Every single person is deserving of love, especially children despite any mistakes that have been made."
Thank You, Bill!
We're so grateful that Bill Jartz of WBAY-TV has shared his time and talents with us serving as Emcee at our CASA Presents fundraising event for many years!

His love of community, passion for the CASA mission, and enthusiastic spirit always brings people together—even over Zoom, as was the case during our Virtual CASA Presents event this year.

We appreciate all that Bill does to make our community a better place!
