Dear Constituents:
As we continue to move through these unprecedented times, we ask everyone to be patient while we work to implement policies and procedures to keep both the public and town employees safe. At this time, the Town has taken the following actions:
1.
While parks will remain open, all town playgrounds are closed;
2.
The golf courses are remaining open at this time;
3.
There is limited access to all town offices until further notice. We encourage everyone to visit the website at
www.orangetown.com
or to call ahead for information before heading over. If your matter is not of a time sensitive nature, the town employee may ask you to reschedule for a later date;
4.
Staffing in each department has been reduced, with some employees working from home, to comply with the Executive Order issued by Governor Cuomo mandating a reduction of employees across the entire workforce;
5.
All Town meetings (including Town Board) scheduled through March 27
th
have been cancelled; for meetings scheduled beyond that date, we are working toward having the meetings available via teleconferencing or other interactive means. We ask that you check the website before the scheduled meeting date for more information.
Residents should be aware that at 5:21 pm yesterday Supervisor Teresa Kenny declared a local state of emergency for the Town of Orangetown. While Supervisor Kenny has not issued any emergency orders as of this time, having this in place will ensure that she can do so if the need arises, as well as to ensure the Town’s eligibility for federal funds if they should they become available in the future.
Lastly, any resident in need of assistance during this challenging time should reach out to the Supervisor’s office via e-mail at
Supervisor@orangetown.com
or calling (845) 359-5100 x 2293. The Town is working with several volunteer organizations and are here to assist and coordinate for any resident in need.
