FARM2PANTRY

The Farm2Pantry Pilot Program has had a successful season planting, growing and harvesting produce for the pantries. In total, the community gardens have grown and donated 268 pounds of produce so far! Thanks to the hard work of the gardeners, the pantry can provide fresh, locally grown produce to community members experiencing food insecurity.

JEWETT PARK

Construction at Jewett Park has begun. The old playground equipment was removed and pavilions have been installed. But that’s not all - the Buchtel High School Masonry Program is in the process of installing stone pillars in the pavilions. The front entry featuring a beautiful stone retaining wall and a colorful bike rack will also be installed in the coming weeks.

A community build is scheduled for September 8 – 10, 2022 to install the playground equipment – and we need volunteers!

BARBERTON

Active Transportation Plan

The planning committee has been busy hosting engagement activities around Barberton the past few months. Six pop-up events were hosted, providing Barberton community members the opportunity to directly engage with staff to ask questions and provide feedback about Active Transportation in the community. The feedback that was provided at in-person events and online via the interactive mapping tool will be used to inform and develop the recommendations in the Active Transportation Plan. Stay tuned for more information!
