Eileen's Lesson
I once had a medical procedure and as customary, just prior, the physician went over all the potentially horrible things that could happen as a result of the procedure.
He then followed with the famous, “Do you have any questions?” I asked if any of those items he listed had ever happened to him. His response was telling. He said, “Any doctor who tells you that nothing has ever gone wrong in a procedure is either lying or has not performed enough procedures.” Excellent reply.

One of my favorite interview questions is “What is your biggest professional mistake and what have you learned from it?” My goal is two-fold. I want to learn how the person has grown, but I also want to know that the person admits they have made mistakes. A person who says they have never made a mistake is either lying or simply just doesn’t have enough work experience.
