Message from Pastor Janice

Even though there is so much happening and we haven't been able to gather with one another, time keeps marching on, doesn't it? Most of you know that I will be retiring from full-time ministry in June. I can hardly believe it is already April! However, I am confident that Pastor Brad Leight will be a good match for St. John's. I've met with him several times (before the stay-at-home orders!), and I know he is looking forward to his first Sunday on July 5th!

Most of you also know that, although I am retiring from full-time ministry and moving to the Poconos, I agreed to serve a church part-time in retirement if there was a need. Many of our clergy who are "officially" retired continue to serve in part-time appointments.

Although it's going to be extremely difficult to leave St. John's, I'm very happy to announce that effective July 1st, the bishop has appointed me to serve Pocono Lake United Methodist Church. Pocono Lake is a small congregation not too far from my home in Bear Creek Lakes and I'm looking forward to the opportunity. I was asked to share this information with you prior to the appointment announcements that will appear on the Conference website.

Please continue to pray for a resolution to the COVID-19 pandemic. Pray for our medical personnel, for those who are sick, and for those who are working diligently to find an effective treatment. I look forward to being able to gather with all of you in worship as soon as we get the "all clear"!

Many blessings,

Pastor Janice
