Bill asking for immediate Phase 2 reopening: Act today to make your voice heard
Last Friday, we hosted a groundbreaking Town Hall meeting (view archived recording) to discuss appropriate actions in response to the latest restrictions on businesses taking effect today. Washington Hospitality Association kicked off the meeting with an update on their efforts and provided a PPP user manual for small businesses.
State Sen. Chris Gildon (25th Leg. Dist.) alerted us to a bi-partisan bill, Senate Bill 5114, that would allow businesses to "... immediately and safely reopen or resume under the provisions of 'Phase 2' of the 'Healthy Washington Roadmap to Recovery' plan."
We encourage you to read the bill and submit your comments, either via the comment button on the bill's page, or by contacting your legislators directly via telephone or email.
A vote could occur as early as today, so make your voice heard now!
Also discussed during Friday's Town Hall:
A call to restaurant owners who have been disproportionately harmed due to restrictions: We're crowdsourcing photos (like the one here of Robert & Jackie Kaelin, owners of Elements) to use in our advocacy and media outreach efforts.
Open For Good: A new Facebook group called Open For Good started by local business owners "...committed to encouraging and inspiring the economic survival of those who serve our community well, especially through these hard times."
Letters to urge action: We're developing a template for those of you who wish to directly write to Gov. Inslee and other officials. More on that in this week's Chamber Chatter newsletter.
