Peabody Students Lobby in Richmond

A group of 5th-7th grade students attended the Environmental Lobby Day in Richmond to talk to legislative aides from the Virginia General Assembly about bills related to conservation and climate. They also met and talked to Delegates Bell, Hudson and Senators Deeds and Reeves. They all brought a different personality to our story and it was such a learning experience to talk to each one of them and see their different styles. Thank you to the  Virginia Conservation Network  for partnering with us to engage our students in this work. Special thanks goes to Jonathan Blank and to Ms. Lastinger and Ms. Young for helping our students navigate the day!
Peabody Jump Party!
Please join us for a Peabody School Jump Party! We have the whole place to ourselves on March 8th from 6PM-8PM. There is no school the next day so don't worry about keeping the kids up late! Pizza will be served. 100% of the proceeds will go to support the Peabody 25th Anniversary Ball!

News from the Peabody-Vauban Exchange Program

As you know we are partnering with two schools ( École Victor Hugo and Collège Vauban) in Belfort, France, which are part of an International Section from elementary school to high school. This spring, four grade 8 students are going there with Madame Frémy for a two-week immersion in a family and at school. Then just one week later ( April 18 to May 2) we will welcome 12 of our French friends and a teacher to chaperon them. They will attend school with their buddies and also visit other classes. They will be hosted by Peabody families. If you want to be part of this great experience, you are in luck, we still need two host families (one would be for one week)!!! You could also offer to be on a waiting list in case we need someone just for a few days or a week-end. These students are here to improve their English so you DO NOT NEED to speak French! Don’t hesitate to contact Madame FREMY if you have any question or interest.  Thank you all for supporting our exchange program.

Peabody Book Swap is coming!

Have your children outgrown books from your home libraries? Please consider donating them to the upcoming book swap that will be paired with Game Night (3/6). We will return to our treasured Bookworm Central book fair next year when we have a fabulous new library, but until then we want to make sure our readers have access to lots of new material!

We are accepting children's books in good condition that are appropriate for our PreK-8 students. Drop them off in the office to the attention of Ms. MaryBeth or Mrs. Funk and thank you for supporting Peabody's voracious readers!
Bake sale!

On Thursday, February 6th, the 8th grade students who are going to France are raising money to help with the cost of their trip! The prices for the baked goods will range from .50 to $5. The 8th grade will be on the ramp Thursday morning, from 8:00-8:20. Thanks for helping us with this amazing opportunity!
