NCJW Weekly Advocacy Wrap-Up: October 1
We are aware that the following events are on a Saturday. We invite you to get involved in a way that aligns with your Shabbat practices and COVID-19 comfort level.
We are excited to let you know that our Section is cosponsoring the downtown Long Beach March on Saturday, October 2nd, a day of action to mobilize in support of reproductive freedom. Register here.

The Women’s March will be 501(c)(3) friendly — focused on issues and not candidates — and our partnership with them means this will be a big tent for so many communities including the Jewish community. With the Texas radical abortion ban, SB8, now law and a 15 week ban case before the US Supreme Court this term, we must speak up and take action to protect and advance our rights!

You can also find a local march in Fountain Valley. Register here.
Alternatively, you are invited to join our ally, Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties on October 2, to “Raise Your Voice for Freedom of Choice”, a virtual day of action consisting of a series of virtual interactive events and experiences in support of reproductive rights.

What: “Raise Your Voice for Freedom of Choice” Virtual Day of Action
When: Saturday, October 2, 2021, 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Where: Virtual via Zoom. Register here.
NCJW California is a member of the Stronger California Coalition.

The Stronger California Advocates Network‘s 2021 priority bills address the ongoing challenges faced by women, low-wage workers, and other vulnerable communities in the wake of COVID-19 and advance policies to bring about broader structural change and increase economic security for women and families.

CA Governor Gavin Newsom has until October 10 to sign or veto all bills. The following Stronger California priorities were passed by the legislature and are on the Governor’s desk awaiting signature. You can learn more about these bills and prior budget wins by watching the Stronger California mid-session update webinar.

The bills listed below are on Governor Newsom’s desk awaiting signature. Support these bills by sending a pre-drafted email to the Governor through the following links:

GOOD NEWS! Governor Gavin Newsom signed two of our bills: SB62, the Garment Worker Protection Act and SB321, the Health & Safety of all Workers Act.
