Circle Time Song of the Day
This is the Way (Spring)
(tune: This is the Way)
This is the way we plant the seeds,
plant the seeds, plant the seeds.
This is the way we plant the seeds
all spring long.

This is the way we fly a kite,
fly a kite, fly a kite.
This is the way we fly a kite
all spring long.

This is the way we catch butterflies,
catch butterflies, catch butterflies.
This is the way we catch butterflies
all spring long.
Fine Motor Practice
  • Paint in a Bag: For this activity, you will need a plastic Ziploc bag, paint, and tape. Open your plastic bag and pour in a little bit of paint. Seal the bag shut and cover the seal with tape for security. Invite your child to practice writing letters, numbers, or drawing pictures on top of the bag.
Art
  • Raining Marker Art: This is a process based art activity in which your child should be free to explore without worrying about the final product. Process art allows children room to be themselves, make their own choices, and just create! Enjoy making art together and watch how Mother Nature adds to your art! For this activity, you will need washable markers, and a sturdy piece of paper. Invite your child to draw a picture using markers. Then, place your artwork outside once it has started raining. Listen to the rain fall and watch the lines of the artwork blend together.
    • You can also do this inside using a spray bottle with water.
Science / Cooking
  • Making Liquid Watercolors: Liquid watercolors can be used for many different activities from art to science. Here are two easy ways to make your own from home!
  • Using Dried Markers: This is a eco-friendly activity for making your own liquid watercolor paint using dried up markers. Don't throw them away! The process is easy, but it does take time. For this activity, you will need dried out markers, water, and jars. First, have your child test the markers to see which ones are getting low on ink. Sort your dried markers into groups of similar colors. Pour a bit of water into each jar (one for each color group). Next, place the markers tips down, into the water. Let the jars sit out for a few days. After a few days have past, remove the markers from the jars and throw them away. There you go! Liquid watercolor!
  • Using Washable Tempera/Finger Paint: You are able to control how vibrant the colors are by the amount of paint that you use. More paint and less water will give you brighter colors, less paint and more water will give you pastel colors. For this activity, you will need tempera paint, warm water, and jars or bottles for storage. Squirt a little tempera paint into each small jar. Add in some warm to hot water. Put the lid on the top and shake it up until all of the paint has dissolved into the water. Voila! Liquid watercolor!
Gross Motor Play
  • Parade Time: Host a parade! Invite your child to line up their toys into a line to "view" the parade. Encourage your child march around the house playing instruments. Put on some music and dance along.
Outdoor Time
  • Nature Name Creation: Go for a walk outside in your backyard or around your neighborhood. Collect leaves, twigs, and other items that have fallen on the ground. Invite your child to try to write letters, numbers, or create pictures using the natural elements they have found.
