Sepia Sundays Taking Off!

In addition to posting the popular History Happenings on Facebook (@NewburyHist), Instagram (@Old_Newbury) and Twitter (@NewburyHist), the Museum of Old Newbury has started "Sepia Sundays."

"I'm thrilled to see the engagement with followers steadily increasing," says Colleen Turner Secino, marketing and engagement manager.

This past Sunday's post featured a balloon being filled at Mount Rural for ascension at the first fair, 275 High Street. All proceeds collected went to aid the Home for Aged Men. Featured images are from the Christopher Snow Photograph Selection.

Museum Welcomes Secino & Vlass

No, they are not a new crime fighting duo on Hallmark TV.

Colleen Turner Secino (left) and Madison Vlass (right) have joined the Museum of Old Newbury team in a shared role.

Secino will be handling marketing and engagement and Vlass will manage day-to-day operations. Susan Edwards, executive director, shares, "This is the ideal combination. Both excel in their respective areas of expertise, providing the museum with a tremendous resource."

A skilled communications professional with 35 year’s experience in marketing, media and public relations, Secino brings a host of skills to the table, including excellent regional media connections ; strong creative talents; social media savvy, execution and management; as well as an extensive background in large-scale event planning. She is a graduate of Bridgewater State University and resides in Newburyport with her husband Tom and their furry, four-legged son, Scamps.

Vlass, a West Newbury native who lives for local history and historic preservation, holds a BA in Archaeology from Fort Lewis College and a MA in Public History from UMass, Boston. She splits her time professionally between the Museum of Old Newbury and Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm, where you can find her cuddling the animals or giving tours. When she is not working at a museum, she is probably kayaking, hiking, or in a garden.
