President Joe Biden announced a moratorium on all new oil and gas drilling leases on federal lands and in the federal waters. LABI President and CEO Stephen Waguespack released the following statement in response.

Louisiana Targets Growth of Rural Small Businesses
Twelve Louisiana companies are the inaugural participants in a program targeting business growth for rural Louisiana. The LED Rural Entrepreneurship Initiative recently launched via a partnership of Louisiana Economic Development and the Michigan-based Edward Lowe Foundation.

So many chambers do strategic planning in January and February, and YGM has provided information that will hopefully help reframe and refocus those planning sessions. YGM’s latest blog post focuses on how Strategic Planning Starts with Strategic Thinking. The second in the ‘TRC Talks: Ideas & Inspiration’ interview series delved deeper into strategic thinking with Kelly Hall, CCE, IOM, President/CEO of the Longview (TX) Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber is pleased to welcome Tobin DeVille as their new Executive Director.
Jefferson Chamber
The Chamber kicked off the New Year with a virtual Business & Breakfast on January 22. The Jefferson Chamber Young Professionals hosted two virtual events in January – a Coffee & Community with special guest Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser and a happy hour and distillery tour with a Jefferson Chamber member distillery. The Chamber is excited to be hosting both a Chamber 101 and a Business Card Exchange in-person in February.
Natchitoches Area Chamber
The Chamber has hired Anna Waxley as their new Events Coordinator.
New Orleans Chamber
The Chamber has a handful of virtual and in-person events coming up this month. Dates and times are subject to change with regard to city restrictions and guidelines for COVID-19. They will hold a Virtual Power Breakfast on February 9, the 21st Century Business Forum Webcast with Biz New Orleans - Episode 2 on February 10, and the Chamber Dine Around - Rosie's on the Roof on February 23.
