- In an effort to better understand the prevalence of COVID-19 in Broomfield’s long-term care facilities, the City and County of Broomfield has set a goal of proactively conducting COVID-19 testing at long-term care facilities, starting with the staff of Sunrise at FlatIrons Assisted Living Facility on Wednesday, May 13, 2020. - Are swimming pools allowed to be open?
- Indoor, outdoor, HOA, apartment and gym pools are all closed at this time. Along with other high touch environments like gyms and playgrounds, pools are not allowed to open under the Safer at Home orders which are in effect through May 26, unless extended by the state.
- While the pool water itself is likely to kill the virus through proper disinfection with chlorine and bromine, the pool decks, locker rooms, gates, ladders, lifeguard stands, pool toys, etc. are all high touch surfaces.
- Additional guidance for pools and other facilities currently closed will be provided in the coming weeks once more data has been collected and evaluated regarding the presence of COVID-19 in the community and the effectiveness of the measures in place during the Safer at Home period.

City Updates
- Air Care Colorado will be opening a handful of stations on Friday. Broomfield’s location is included on that list. For more information visit their website at AirCareColorado.com.
- Vulnerable populations are encouraged to stay at home during the Safer at Home orders to best prevent exposure to the COVID-19 virus. Check out this flyer to inform those ages 60+, one of the largest groups considered a vulnerable population, on how to access services safely and easily.
- Do you know someone 60+ who would benefit from a phone call from Broomfield Senior Services to review resources available to them at this time? Complete this form to ask Broomfield Senior Services to reach out to them via phone.
- Broomfield Public Health was awarded $99,151 from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to help offset costs related to its COVID-19 Public Health Emergency Response. In addition, CDPHE has indicated an additional $99,000 will be awarded in the near future to offset costs for disease control and response. The new funding will help to offset personnel costs for the two new epidemiologists.
- The City has finalized an agreement with Advanced Urgent Care to access resources for COVID-19 diagnostic testing services. These resources will allow the City’s COVID Testing Task Force to add clinical testing and expand on-site mobile testing.
- Clinical testing will be performed at Advanced Urgent Care’s location at 3950 W. 144th Avenue
- The agreement includes access to diagnostic testing for uninsured individuals who have been approved for testing by Broomfield Public Health.
- The City is also actively working on an additional agreement to add providers and increase access to medically trained staff to support comprehensive testing capability for our residents at long-term care facilities.
- Enhance Broomfield continues to receive applications, with 7 new applicants this week. Eighty-three Broomfield businesses have received awards from the over 150 applicants. The Review Committee will be considering about 20 pending applications later this week. The Enhance Broomfield Update includes a list of awarded businesses, along with a summary by business category.
- Businesses can use the Quick Start Guide, part of the Business Support Toolkit, to access guidelines for reopening.

- Mental Health Partners is offering a FREE, virtual suicide prevention training on May 28 in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month. Pre-registration is required and can be completed at MHPColorado.org/training.

- During the month of May, drop a selfie of your facemask or a picture of you completing essential tasks while wearing your mask in Smile with Your Eyes Community Event to show off your newest accessory during the COVID-19 Public Health Crisis! State / Federal Updates
- Wednesday Gov. Jared Polis advocated for federal funding and resources to help Colorado’s communities respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Governor was joined by Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment executive director Jill Ryan. Read the press release here.
- Gov. Polis ordered the Colorado and American flags to be lowered to half staff on all public buildings statewide from sunrise to sunset on Friday, May 15, 2020, in recognition of Peace Officers Memorial Day.
- State distributes first allocation of experimental antiviral treatment. More information is here.

- For Seniors:
- Sign up for weekly check-in calls or find more resources for seniors by calling 303.464.5526.
- Delivery Prescriptions Available for those 60+: Visit BroomfieldSeniors.com or calling Broomfield Senior Services at 303.464.5526.
- Community Reach Center has introduced the Senior Reach program. This community program identifies older adults who may need in-home emotional or physical support and/or connection to community services.
- For All Residents:
- Sign up to be a part of Broomfield Pals, where neighbors offer connection and assistance during the COVID-19 public health crisis to help you stay safer at home.
- Mental health resources including access to local services, mental wellness and support resources and safety and welfare information can be found on Broomfield.org/COVID. Disruptions in our routines can challenge mental health and resilience; resources are available to assist you during this challenging time. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency please call 911.
- Access services from Broomfield FISH including food pick up. These services are for anyone struggling financially due to COVID-19. View the April and May food distribution hours here.
- Apply now for the Bridge-The-Gap program which provides housing payment assistance to Broomfield residents that have lost wages due to the impact of COVID-19. See eligibility criteria, learn more and apply online at Broomfield.org/BridgeTheGap.

- For Residents to Support Businesses: Information about local businesses serving the community, with adjusted service and hours.
- Businesses can apply for the Enhance Broomfield program, which offers a one-time grant of up to $7,500 which can be used for some operating expenses. This program has received a large number of applications, and funds are limited. The application is also a good step forward in filling out an application for other potential business support programs, such as a U.S. SBA loan (PPP or EDIL programs) or your bank’s working capital loans.

- Connect with Neighbors:
- Apply today to be a part of Broomfield Pals, where you can help friends and neighbors in need by offering connection and assistance during the COVID-19 public health crisis.
- Use NextDoor’s Neighborhood Help Map to list things you are able and willing to do for neighbors in your area, such as phone check-ins, pet care and more. Follow all safety guidelines and requirements while helping or providing help to neighbors.
- Donate Blood: There is an urgent need for blood donations. Visit Vitalant.org or call 303.363.2300 for scheduling or questions.
- Donate Money:
- Donate to the Disaster Relief fund through the Broomfield Community Foundation.
- Do you have unspent lunch funds in your student's account? You can donate these funds directly to the emergency food program that supports BVSD families in need through The School Food Project. It's as simple as filling out three questions on this form.
- Donate Food: FISH is asking the community to help donate the following most needed items: peanut butter, oatmeal, canned meat, mac & cheese, and spaghettios.
- Donate Items:
- A Precious Child is accepting cleaning supplies and hygiene items listed on their Amazon wishlists. They are also taking walk-in donations on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday's of children's clothing, diapers and hygiene items.
- inventHQ is looking for materials to continue making masks for the community. The following items can be dropped off, in a sealed ziptop bag, at the Library Book Drop:

- Governor Jared Polis created the Colorado Covid-19 Innovation Response Team to introduce telehealth/telemedicine service supporting approximately 800,000 uninsured and under-served Coloradans.
