I hope that you and your families are staying safe and healthy. With the closure of our school building for the remainder of the school year, we will unfortunately not be able to hold our kindergarten screenings later this month as originally planned. We know that getting to meet your children in person is a valuable part of learning about them and ensuring that they are placed in the best class for each of them for kindergarten. If possible, we will contact you to arrange to screen your children in person during the summer. However, we will not be able to make plans for this until we have a better understanding of the social distancing regulations at that time.
In order for us to collect as much meaningful information about your children as possible prior to meeting them, please complete this questionnaire by Wednesday, May 22: Dorchester Kindergarten Screening Parent Questionnaire 2020-2021. Your detailed responses will help us begin to get to know your children. Additionally, the form includes a question asking for your consent to have the Dorchester staff contact your child's preschool for insight about your child's experience there. Please consider allowing us to do so as speaking to your child's preschool will help us better understand how to best support your child at Dorchester.
Lastly, I am in the process of creating a virtual Kindergarten Orientation video for you and your children, and I hope to send it to you soon. I know that your children were excited to visit our school in March, and this video will help both you and them get to know Dorchester and what to expect for September. If you have any questions, please ask. I look forward to welcoming you and your children into our Dorchester community.
