FALL 2022 MOVE IN

Housing and Residence Life staff can't wait for you to move in! We are here to support you during the 2022-23 academic year! If you have questions, please contact HRL at 812-468-2000 or living@usi.edu.

If you have not signed up for a move in time, please do so now! Log into the Housing Portal and click on the Move In button.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON MOVE IN DAY (August 13-21)

Drive Through Check In (Early Arrival/TLC/New Student/Returning Student)

When you arrive to campus please take the USI exit from Highway 62 onto University Boulevard. Follow the signs to parking lot B. You will stop at the Welcome Week tent (August 17-18) first and then the Housing Check In tent. After you check in you can then go move into your new home!

Students should have their USI student ID ready when pulling up to the check in tent.

Students should not show up early for their assigned move in time. The move in time slot is for when students are at the check in tent. After the student has checked in at the tent, they should go to their residence hall or apartment building to unload and park vehicles. Refer to the maps below for more details.

Move In Carts

There will be carts available for students to use at the residence halls (August 17-18) to move items into the buildings.

GUESTS DURING MOVE IN

To help maintain safety of all students, guests, faculty, and staff, the following guidelines have been implemented:

1. Students and guests should be mindful of others moving in and follow the University’s guidelines for COVID-19 safety. Learn more about USI’s COVID-19 Information. 
2. No one who feels ill or has a fever (self-diagnosed) should come to campus.
3. Strongly discourage individuals of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions that might be at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19 from coming to campus.

CHECK IN TENT (AUGUST 13-21)

All students (Early Arrival/LLC/New Student/Returning Student) will check in at the Housing Check In tent located in the back of parking lot B Saturday, August 13-Sunday, August 21. Residents will receive their room key, parking decal (for those who have preregistered their vehicle) and other relevant information.

MAIL AND PACKAGES

HRL will begin accepting mail and packages for fall residents on Wednesday, August 17. If you are not a summer housing resident, please do not have anything sent to campus prior to August 17. Please visit Mail and Packages for more information on how items should be addressed and where to pick up mail and packages.

MEAL PLANS

Meal plans begin Saturday, August 20 with brunch. For more information about meal plans visit USI Dining.

WELCOME WEEK TENT (AUGUST 17-18)

Welcome Week information will be distributed at a tent located before the Housing Check In tent. Students will receive a welcome packet that includes the Welcome Week schedule, information from departments on tasks to complete before classes start, checklist of what and how to take care of business on campus, and a map on where to find things. 

PARKING PERMITS

Housing residents must register their vehicle online. The vehicle registration form is available online. Students who complete the parking registration prior to their move in date, will be able to pick up a packet at check in that will include the parking permit decal, decal placement instructions and other important information. Parking regulations will be in effect the first day of the fall semester. For fall 2022, housing residents will be allowed to park in lots A, B, C, D, E and F on class days.

EARLY ARRIVALS

Early arrivals are for students who need to move in early for a University sponsored activity or program.

Early arrival move in for freshmen and transfer students will be Saturday, August 13-Tuesday, August 16. Early arrival move in for returning students will be Saturday, August 13-Thursday, August 18. The early arrival request form is on the Housing Portal. This request is subject to approval by Housing and Residence Life staff. Requests to move in prior to August 13 will not be approved.

The hours for the early move in dates August 13-16 will be noon to 4 p.m. The hours for the early move in dates August 17-18 will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
