W&M updates COVID-19 guidelines for fall semester
William & Mary provides robust student health services that can support students to manage COVID-19 appropriately. The following amendments, effective Aug. 5, allow W&M to enfold COVID-19 response into the university’s overall health and wellness program:
  • ReportCOVID is no longer required, and W&M will not be operating case management or contact tracing this year.
  • Students who test positive should isolate at home or off campus if that is feasible. The university does not coordinate dedicated COVID-19 isolation housing.
  • Residential students who are unable to isolate off campus should plan to isolate in their residence hall following these guidelines.
  • W&M is offering student guides and resources online
Opening Convocation: August 31, 7pm
Continuing a tradition that was reinaugurated during the university's tercentenary in 1993, William & Mary begins each fall with our Opening Convocation to celebrate the start of the academic session. Early in the evening on the first day of fall classes, faculty, staff and students gather at the Sir Christopher Wren Building to signify the beginning of the academic year and to officially welcome all of our entering William & Mary students.
The TutorZone Opens on September 12!
The TutorZone is so excited to welcome all of our students for this new academic year! We will be opening for appointments on Monday, September 12th. Class availability and appointment scheduling will be posted on the TutorZone website in late August. If your student is interested in getting a head start on building their academic skills, please have them check out our Resource Guide!

Please contact TutorZone@wm.edu with any questions.
Albemarle County Fair at Highland
The Albemarle County Fair is scheduled from Thursday, August 4 through Saturday, August 6 on the grounds of Highland. Fair hours will be 4 to 9 pm on Thursday, August 4, and 10am to 9pm on Friday and Saturday, August 5 and 6. Tickets are $5 per person and free for children under 6 years of age. This fun and festive “Old-Time Country Fair” will be a three-day agricultural celebration, complete with exhibits, baked goods, crafts, family entertainment, events, livestock, and grand old-time country fun. In addition to this year’s attractions, the fair, in collaboration with James Monroe’s Highland, will offer demonstrations of historic and cultural significance, including a blacksmith and wool spinning and weaving. James Monroe’s Highland is a part of William & Mary, located in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Student Unions & Engagement Updates
Student Union & Engagement (SUE) cultivates intentional and inclusive experiences and physical spaces for all students. Part of this work includes overall responsibility for the Sadler Center, William & Mary’s student union, which was newly expanded. The expanded area features dynamic student spaces including a student art gallery, a meditation room, informal lounges, collaborative spaces and a student media suite for student productions and publications.

Another feature of SUE is the support it provides to Alma Mater Productions (AMP). AMP is a campus-wide, student-run programming board that provides free and low-cost events to all students. For the Fall 2022 semester, they have 32 events planned for your student! Encourage your student to get involved with AMP at the Student Organization Activities Fair and to check out their TribeLink page, Facebook, or Instagram for upcoming events.
Auxiliary Services
W&M Dining: All Access Meal Plan
What is the All Access plan? Based on consistent feedback from students and research from peer institutions, the All Access plan has been developed to allow students more flexibility with how they use their meal plan. Students with All Access now have unlimited meal swipes for Commons and Sadler - want to swipe into Sadler for coffee and a muffin before class? Use a swipe. Need a banana from Commons before working out? Use a swipe. Do you eat smaller, more frequent meals throughout the day? There is no more need to budget your swipes throughout the week/semester.

The plan also introduces Griffin Deals which can be used at select retail locations to create your own meal combination. Students have two Griffin Meals per day which can be used for a variety of options at Marketplace, Tribe Truck, Student X-change, Tribe Market and Boehly Cafe. Additionally, All Access plans include $400 Dining Dollars to use at any dining location such as Daily Grind, Chick-fil-A, Bake Shop and more.

Juniors, Seniors, or students living in a campus-managed apartment can review their eligible options on www.wm.edu/dining and visit the Manage Your Meal Plan page to change their plan. Students should be sure to select Change Meal Plan to avoid having multiple meal plans. Fall meal plan selection will close at the end of add/drop, September 12, 2022.
Tribe Card Services
Tribe Card is the official form of identification for students, faculty and staff and an essential part of their life here on campus, providing access to meal plan, residence halls and more. Returning students should double check they have their Tribe Card before they return to campus. New students will receive their Tribe Card when they check in for housing.
Parking & Transportation Services
Eligible Junior, Senior, and Graduate students are now able to access the online parking portal to purchase a 2022-23 Parking Decal.

Parking Decals purchased online will be available for pickup at the new Parking & Transportation location in Campus Center starting Monday, August 8. Parking & Transportation staff will be on hand to answer questions and ensure students have the decal that best fits their needs. Please direct questions or concerns to us at parked@wm.edu

Parent & Family Giving
Senior Family Gift
Parents, grandparents and others have played a key role in providing students with the academic and personal tools they’ve needed throughout their time at William & Mary, particularly during the most challenging circumstances in recent years. In many ways, your student’s senior year marks the culmination of great determination and even greater accomplishment. This year, we invite you to reflect on how your student has grown since they first arrived on campus, and the impact that has been made on their lives by a W&M education.

The Parents Fund provides resources and programs that support students to learn, lead, and live with integrity and purpose. Two highlights: careers and wellness.

Thanks to the Parents Fund, the Office of Career Development & Professional Engagement helps students navigate their next steps into the professional world – a pillar of Vision 2026. Your gifts to the Parents Fund provide students essential job, internship, and professional workshop opportunities, along with personalized guidance. Also thanks to the Parents Fund, a Counseling Center clinician is always available to students via phone. Students can access 24/7 tele-therapy by calling (757) 221-3620. This simply would not be possible without the Parents Fund.

Your student's friends, memories and academic success will be with them for a lifetime and, with your gift to the Parents Fund, you can make sure that their legacy at W&M will lead the way for other students who follow in their footsteps. Please make your Senior Family Gift today! Thank you for all the many ways you support your student and their peers.
