Join Friends and Supporters of Education in Israel at AFK's First Virtual Spring Gala
At the AFK Virtual Spring Gala on Sunday, April 11th you will see, through the eyes of students, how SAE has reimagined ways to teach effectively, even during the COVID-19 lockdowns, and how the innovative new schools recently introduced for all segments of Israeli society are changing the lives of students.

The Honorable Moshe Leon, Mayor of Jerusalem, will greet attendees and the first AFK Alumni Awards will be presented to graduates of SAE high schools and residences who are rendering outstanding service to their communities or Israel.
Internationally renowned Israeli singer-songwriter Noa (Achinoam Nini) and Gil Dor will close out the Virtual Gala with a special musical performance. Noa, pictured, is a graduate of SAE’s Mae Boyar High School in Jerusalem.

AFK will also recognize many significant donors from the United States who have contributed to the success of the SAE since its founding inspired by Israeli Prime Minister David Ben Gurion in 1962.

Esther -- A Role Model for Today's Women
Students at Reut, a pluralistic co-ed high school in Jerusalem know for its involvement with the community, were all in with their recent Purim celebrations.
On Purim eve, Dafna Menashe Baruch, (at right) principal of SAE’s Mae Boyar High School in Jerusalem, issued a statement on the Book of Esther and female power.
Sindiana Arab Youth Village High School Holds Open House for New Students and Parents Via Zoom
With the return to school in February in the shadow of the continued Covid-19 lockdowns throughout Israel, SAE’s Sindiana Arab Youth Village High School held its annual open house for the first time on Zoom.

More than 200 parents and students joined to see photos of the campus and hear the latest information about the range of special programs, learning opportunities and activities in advance of the upcoming academic year starting next September, which will be the school's fourth. The first class graduated from Sindiana last June. The current student body for 2020-21 includes more than 400 boys and girls from the 7th -12th grade.
Yitzhak Belper, Last Warsaw Orphan & Friend of Reut Students Dies at 98
Emery Paz of New Shacharit High School Named Educator of the Week
Yitzhak Belper, the last of the orphans of Janush Korczak and a friend and mentor to Reut High School students over the years, passed away recently at the age of 98.
Shacharit High School teacher Emery Paz was recently named Educator of the Week by Beta Educators, the Jerusalem Education Authority’s innovation unit.
Boyar Students Wed Between Lockdowns

Rina Berezovski and David German met while living and studying at the Mae Boyar High School and Residence in the late 2000’s. Eleven years later, between pandemic lockdowns, they married in Tel Aviv.
