Learn How to Play the Ukulele
MONDAY, AUGUST 1st
10:30—11:00 AM
Location: On the Library Lawn or in the Meeting Room
Want to try an instrument that is fun and easy to play? Join Julie Stepanek as she shows the fundamentals of ukulele playing. No experience necessary. Bring your own ukulele or borrow one of hers. Ages 8+.
This program will be held outside. If it's too hot or it rains, we will be moving the program inside the library.

Lego Challenge

Each participant will use an individual bin of assorted LEGOs to build a specific challenge.

Read to a Dog

Young readers can make a 15 minute appointment to read aloud to Zora, a charming, very clever Golden Retriever. Zora has gone to school to be a therapy dog, so she's the perfect listener. Zora and her person are members of the Pets and People Foundation.

Free Art Camp with local artist Nooriya (New time!)

Hero Kids role-playing game
2ND SATURDAY OF EVERY MONTH

Location: On the Library Lawn or in the Conference Room (depending on weather)
Hero Kids is a role-playing game like Dungeons & Dragons, but the rules have been simplified and the violence has been toned down for children ages 6+.
The combat and adventuring mechanics in Hero Kids are based on six-sided dice, so you don't need to find any unusual dice to play! We'll be meeting in the library! Playtime from 60-90 minutes.

Singalong Storytime with Mr. Robert at the Acton-Boxborough Farmers Market. We'll sing and dance, go on bear hunts, dive down to the bottom of the ocean, fly to the moon, and read the best books ever!
The Market is located at 19 Elm Street, Acton. Parking is allowed on Elm Street, but only on the side of the street adjacent to the playground. Parking is also available at the former Douglas Elementary School (21 Elm Street).

Summer Reading: Read Beyond the Beaten Path
Join us for a summer of reading and exploration with our Summer Reading Program!
How to participate:
- Create an account using our Beanstack software https://actonmemorial.beanstack.org/ or download the app.
- Signup for the AML YA/Adult program.
- Read any book that fulfills a square on our bingo card (located on the next page) and log it in our Bingo Activity Track on Beanstack.
- For every BINGO you earn you will receive 5 raffle tickets good toward any of our Summer reading themed baskets (pictures of the baskets will be in Beanstack beginning August 1st).
- Attend any of our programs listed in Beanstack's Program Track to earn additional raffle tickets.
- Enter your digital tickets into the drawing in Beanstack BEFORE August 24th to enter to win!

Nautical Rope Bracelets - Craft

Summer Concert on the Lawn:
PanNeubean Steel DUO

PanNeubean Steel is a Steelpan led Caribbean band that specializes in showcasing the beautiful sounds of the Islands. Music will include a soulful blend of Reggae, Soca and Calypso.
Raised on Cape Cod, Musician/Artist Jefferey Clayton(Music Director, Music Educator), founded PanNeubean Steel to share his passion for music. His love-passion for his Jamaican heritage and the quality of PanNeubean Steel is evident through his enthusiasm, leadership and dedication to presenting a positive performance experience.
This program will be on the Library Lawn if weather allows. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and catch some rays while listening to great music on the lawn of the library.

Microadventures in Massachusetts

Join author Alison O'Leary as she helps us get out and explore with adventurous day trips to islands, waterfalls, and abandoned towns/settlements, tips to spot/track wildlife, and introductions to hiking/kayaking opportunities.

Walking Tour of Acton
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 17th

Location: TBD
Join Bettina Abe, Natural Resources Assistant with the Town of Acton, as she takes residents on a walking tour of one of Acton's conservation land trail systems to be decided by registrants. On this tour we will learn about the trail's history and ecology. Walks are approximately 45 - 60 min. and will be approx. one mile in length. Trail surface is level, partially paved, partially grass, and partially natural forest floor with some roots to step over.

Bring Your Bike: Bicycle Anatomy, Fit & Checklist
MONDAY, AUGUST 22th
7:00—8:00 PM
Location: Library Lawn or Meeting Room
(if the weather doesn't cooperate).
Learn about your bike's components and get a maintenance checklist and tips for proper maintenance! Instructors will also teach you how to properly fit your bike. Do you have questions? Bring them! You are encouraged to bring your bike so that Joyce, our bicycle expert and owner of Pedal Power in Acton, will be able to help you get to know YOUR bike better! Registration encouraged so that we can get a sense of the number of people and bikes to expect, but not required. We had a great time and learned a lot about our bikes at our meeting in July! Whether you made it to that one or not-join us Aug 22! Tell your friends! Kids welcome!
