Letter from Administration
Dear Bishop Hartley Families:

As final preparations continue for the annual Evening of Excellence tomorrow, we want to express our gratitude to all who have been working so hard to make this event a success. Our entire community benefits from the funds raised for merit-based scholarships and need-based tuition assistance. We look forward to seeing many of you at the event tomorrow evening.

Our Lenten journey continues to prepare us for the joy of the Resurrection on Easter Sunday. This week, Fr. Fulton led a group in the Stations of the Cross in our courtyard. We will join for a communal reconciliation service on April 7, and students will have the opportunity to receive the sacrament of reconciliation the following day, if they choose to do so. We will also have Eucharistic Adoration in the chapel on the 8th. Please encourage your children to make the most of these spiritual opportunities.

Finally, as we quickly approach the midway point of the fourth quarter, we ask that you remind your children to be vigilant about academics and finish the year strong. Spring weather, sports, and other activities can be distracting. We need to focus on our learning objectives as well.

We wish you all a continued prayerful Lenten journey,

The Administrative Team

Christopher Kowalski, Principal
Andrew Jahahn, Vice Principal of Operations
Dr. Patricia Hanna, Vice Principal of Academics

Late Start Day for Students April 8

Friday, April 8 is a late start day for students. Classes begin at 9:30am; students should be on campus by 9:20am to avoid being tardy that day. Your cooperation is appreciated.
Day of Preparation and Community

Students learned about everything from car care to beard care, cooking, budgeting, sewing, and many more life skills during our 3rd Annual Day of Preparation and Community. Our speakers included people from all walks of life: television news, the medical and pharmaceutical fields, law enforcement, and more.

Many of our speakers were Bishop Hartley alumni who gave willingly of their time to join us. Each grade level participated in events geared specifically for them in addition to the life skills sessions offered by our faculty and others. Born of a student initiative, this day continues to grow each year. We are grateful to all who helped make it a success: our speakers and volunteers, the House Parent Organization which provided a breakfast for our speakers, and organizers who spent hours planning the day. We send a special shout out to our House Director, Molly Hartge, and all the House Deans.
HPO Style Show Returns!

The House Parent Organization was pleased to be able to return to Jefferson Country Club for an in-person event this year. Guests enjoyed a luncheon together and a style show of prom fashions generously provided by Macy’s Easton and Gilded Social. Over 20 lucky guests walked away as winners of themed baskets raffled as part of the fundraiser. Emcee Matt Barnes from NBC4 hosted the event. Special thanks to Mrs. Tammy Sawyer and Mrs. Shawna Hissom for acting as co-chairs for the event.

Planning for next year’s event has begun. If you are interested in being part of this or other HPO events, please contact faculty liaison, Molly Maloof at bhhshousepo@gmail.com.
Aquinas Kickball Tournament

After much rescheduling and even more excitement, Aquinas House wrapped up its House-wide kickball tournament on Wednesday of this week. The final match between Mr. Gieseler’s and Mrs. Maloof’s mentor groups ended in a tie with the winner being decided by the pre-determined method of the victory going to the mentor group with the most service hours. Mrs. Maloof’s mentor group took the trophy!
Marketing Class Films Commercials

This week, Mrs. Hendrix marketing students could be seen purposefully “roaming” the halls of Bishop Hartley to film commercials for their marketing projects. We look forward to the finished products and will share them in future Heralds!
