Foundation of Friends
“One loyal friend is worth ten thousand relatives”. Euripides
Using Euripides math, our Library’s Foundation of Friends with a current membership of over
400 and growing is now worth 4 Million relatives! So, nothing against our dear relatives,
Euripdes point is well taken that sometimes it is our friends who are there when we need them
the most! This is what make the IVPL’s Foundation of Friends so special- our LOYAL FRIENDS
are there to help our great library thrive.
I joined the Foundation of Friends to give back to the IVPL for all it has done for me and my
family. I have shared my story before but it is worth repeating how the IVPL has made a real
difference in my life. It all started with taking our children when they were young to get ‘stacks
of books’. In 1997, I began listening to Books on CDs. By my estimate, I have listened to over
400 Books on CDs up to today. Maybe more. We have enjoyed going to the many community
events including the ‘carnival’ and watching the precision ‘book cart’ at the parades. Wine
tasting. Beer under the tent. And, more recently, remote learning.
The Foundation of Friends was started in 2019 to help Director Margie Stern and her staff
continue their amazing work. If the IVPL has made a difference in your life and that of your
family, please consider joining. You may become a member here. Better yet, join and get involved.
Volunteers are needed to help with Foundation events. Young people and women are needed to
help lead the Foundation. Get involved, Make a difference in the community. All are welcome.
Become a Loyal Friend.
Victor M. Verbeke, Loyal Friend and IVPL Board of Trustee member.

It enables us to grow and serve your needs as they change over time.
I encourage you to give the piece a read. If you feel compelled, and it is within your means, I hope you consider supporting the IVPL this year. Every giftmade to the Anual Appeal directly supports the library's day-to-day operations of IVPL. Every dollar counts.
Please feel to contact me if you have any questions about supporting the library. I am happy to assist in any way that I can.
