Dear Dorchester Parents,
I hope that you and your families are doing well. Over the past few weeks, students have been bringing Pokemon cards to school to explore and trade with one another. While playing with Pokemon cards can have applications for math skills, critical thinking, and enjoyment with friends, students’ use of the cards has become a distraction throughout the day as students have been taking them out during lessons, becoming upset about trades they have made with peers, or losing them in the hallways.
Because of this, Pokemon cards will no longer be allowed at Dorchester School during the school day. Students are welcome to have Pokemon cards in their backpacks to take with them on playdates or other after-school activities, but they must remain there until after dismissal. I appreciate your help in reinforcing this new school rule with your children so that learning can continue smoothly at Dorchester.
Sincerely,
Stefanie Marsich
