Good Morning! Hope you all watched Darien YMCA Story Time! I was reading the story Pig the Pug Fibber! Look for more stories!

Ideas for today!

Living Things and Plants!

Planting a Rainbow by Lois Ehlert

It Could Still Be a Flower by Allan Fowler

Grow your knowledge about plant parts and plant needs!

Nutrition and Vocabulary Activity:

Eat Plant Parts

Materials: household fruits and vegetables

Tell your child that people eat plants! Eating plants helps us stay healthy.

Together search your kitchen for edible plants. Look for different parts of plants, for example: carrots or onions for roots; broccoli tops for flowers; lettuce for leaves; beans or peas for seeds; celery for stems; and bananas for fruit.

Then pick out some plant parts to share as a snack!

Fruits and Veggies Activity:

Use old fruits and open them to see the seeds. Count the seeds, sort different seeds by size.

Put different seeds out and ask your child if they can identify what fruit they came from. Use sliced foods to make prints, using a thin layer of paint.

Finger Paint Recipe:

Stir 4 tablespoons of sugar and 1/2cup cornstarch together

Add 2 cups cold water and heat over medium heat until mixture is thick (mixture will thicken as it cools)

Divide into 4 or more containers

Add food coloring as desired

Apple Orchard Virtual Tour

For those of you working from home like me, it isn't as easy as it sounds. Especially when you are also trying to manage your children who seem to need you all the time! I found this great article sent out by Senator Chris Murphy:

Be well! Miss you all, I love getting your emails and pictures/videos you have sent me.

Be back to you on Friday!
