Extended School Closures Through April 24
Greetings,

I’m writing you this morning to inform you that we are further extending all Great Hearts Texas school closures through Friday, April 24 . These closures are aligned with the Bexar and Dallas county Stay Home, Stay Safe orders. We are also aligned with the Bexar Co ISDs that have distributed similar communication to their communities.

I believe this to be the best decision for the well-being of the Great Hearts community - implementing the precautionary measures necessary to protect students, faculty, and staff from the spread of COVID-19. The campus closures through April 24 will also give schools and families the clarity they need to make appropriate plans, while leaving open the possibility of still returning for the last month of the school year.

Great Hearts has been working diligently on a longer-term remote learning plan. We will be transitioning from our short-term, packet-based plan to Google Classroom over the coming weeks. Your Headmasters will be in touch with further details on how to login, access student assignments, and submit student work. Please rest assured: proper technical support will be provided, and it is our aim to ensure all students have access to both a computer and internet to be successful in the academic expectations. I’m grateful for the families who completed the survey to provide data on additional supports needed. If you or someone you know does not have access to internet or a computer at home for your student(s) and still need to communicate this to Great Hearts, please send a message to questions@greatheartsamerica.org

On a personal note, I am on this daunting and unprecedented journey with you. Working from home while supporting the distance education of my kids is a tall order. Perhaps like you, everyone in the Scoggin house has experienced the full spectrum of emotions! What’s clear to me is that our shared pursuit of virtue is needed now more than ever. Thank you for supporting your kids and teachers. Thank you for the words of encouragement, the Facebook photos of at-home learning, and for checking in on our more vulnerable community members. I’m in awe of the countless displays of truth, goodness, and beauty I am seeing throughout our Texas and Arizona communities. There are bright spots indeed.

If you have any questions, please continue to email your campus Headmaster or the Great Hearts leadership team at questions@greatheartsamerica.org

Sincerely,
