Good evening St. Francis of Assisi Families,

Tonight, I pray that your families are healthy and safe as you read this email.  We, the administration and faculty, understand that distance learning is an adjustment not only for us but for parents and students at home.  Students are learning how to be more independent while putting growth mindset principles into practice and parents are trying to balance working remotely themselves while facilitating an engaging and fun learning environment at home for their students.  Teachers have been working incredibly long hours to prepare a strong academic experience for all students from Preschool through Eighth Grade. Our IT staff continue to respond to service requests daily through their support email:  [email protected]  .

As we learn daily from our interactions with our students from a distance, I want to assure you that we are here to partner with you.  We established timelines and daily routines to support families at home, while recognizing that this is not a one size fits all, especially in the climate of our local community.  Many of our families are being called on the front lines to protect our community's safety and health, and we thank you for your service and sacrifice. If you find that your student needs additional time to complete work during this adjustment period, please communicate with your child's teacher(s) to coordinate and collaborate.  Flexibility is the key to all of our success.

Additionally, we want to honor our teachers as they too have families that they are trying to care for during the quarantine.  So, I have asked the teachers to respond to emails and be available only during our regular school hours of 8 am - 3 pm. If you send them an email outside of that timeframe, you will receive an out of office message.  This allows our teachers the time they need to grade work, prepare lessons, and care for their own families. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and perseverance over the past four days. We are St. Francis, and the spirit is alive and well, even when we are apart.

Our Superintendent, Dr. Erin Barisano, also wanted to make sure you received her message from the Diocese as well.  Please read her letter attached here.

May you go in prayer, peace, and perseverance to love and serve the Lord.
