Masks For Music Ministry Fundraiser
We are selling homemade cloth masks to raise funds to purchase outdoor sound equipment. Thanks to your support, we have raised almost $1,000 and have been able to purchase new microphone cords, two new speakers, and an outdoor soundboard!

Need a new mask during this pandemic time? Try one of ours, carefully made by our Faith Knotters! Each mask has an elastic band so there are no strings to tie. There are sizes for adults and children with some of your favorite colors and patterns - see examples below! Purchase one for everyone in your family to help support a good cause. Please click here to fill out the order form.

Masks will be available for pick up during outdoor worship on Rally Sunday, September 13.  The cost of each mask is $5.00. For more information about this fundraiser please contact Pastor Reggie. Thank you!

Connect
Connect News
It is time to register for Connect! Connect is a pre-confirmation class for 4th and 5th graders. Each week we explore scripture stories and make connections to our daily life around themes that relate to kid’s experiences. We are planning for online learning and onsite in-person learning when possible.

Connect Bibles have been ordered for children new to this program, so they will have their own text to use for Connect and Confirmation studies. Please email Pastor Reggie for more details.

Seeking Guides for Connect!

Connect meets on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-6:45 p.m. Guides will help facilitate small group discussion by sharing highs and lows, prayer, reading scripture together and discussing how it connects to your life, and end class with a closing prayer and blessing. Guides will facilitate groups online and onsite when possible.  Please call or email Pastor Reggie if you are interested in being a Guide.
SPARK News
It is time to register for SPARK! Please contact Pastor Laura for more information.

SPARK lesson: “Love for One Another”

Paul sums up the Ten Commandments as the abiding and overarching law of love. He writes that love is the thing Christians owe each other. Kids aren’t strangers to rules. Having a list of rules can be helpful, but it can also lead to nit-picky legalism or technical arguments about whether or not a specific action or activity is allowed or prohibited. By summing up the commandments as love, and defining love as doing no harm to the neighbor, Paul helps us focus on the main thing.
Nursery Nuggets
Hi Nursery Buddies and Parents!

This week we will continue on our memorizing journey and then have a review after this week.

“We love, because He first loved us.” 1 John 4:19

This verse is a great reminder that we are loved and how important it is to pass that along to those around us. It is a core value of Christ and his lessons for us. First, Jesus loves us. We know that, right? As we prepare our hearts to receive this message, lets make this verse a reminder in our minds to choose that same love and care towards others. That way, in the moments when it might be a little tricky to do so, it will be easier to act on. Have fun and enjoy the great weather!

Music Notes
Covid-19, physical distancing, aerosols, and crowd control is making worship challenging. A music colleague of mine wrote in her blog: “Have you noticed how grumpy many people are? I sure have. I believe with all my heart, that is in part because no one has been to the symphony, seen a Broadway show, sang in their church choir or rang in a handbell festival in months and months. Our souls are crying out to be part of a musical experience again.” She’s right! So, I’m working, with the pastors and church leadership, on a path forward this fall, gradually, thoughtfully, and carefully expanding our music leadership.

SO, HERE IS WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP!
  1. Can you ring a handbell? Email me and let me know. Bells can be rung with masks, gloves, one person per table, and washing our hands before and after.
  2. Are you comfortable singing a hymn by yourself, with accompaniment, into a microphone during a live-streamed service? Please be sure I know.
  3. Do you play an instrument, clarinet, saxophone, euphonium, etc., any instrument? Make sure I know about it.
  4. Chancel Choir and all singers, I am planning a virtual choir sometime this fall. I will send you a video of the accompaniment, you will return a video of yourself singing to that accompaniment, and an editor will bring them all together. We will start with a simple, unison song before trying to sing parts. Details to follow. If you’d like to participate, please be sure I know.

It pains my heart to limit music-making in worship, music is far too important to NOT be open to everyone. But I understand the reasons, and together we will find a path through this. Slowly broadening the number of people leading worship limits Covid-19 exposure for everyone.

It’s going to be a different way of doing things for the time being, BUT God is still love, and God is still God.
