from the president
Teacher and Staff Appreciation Day last Friday was a huge success, with everyone enjoying an outdoor luncheon catered by Chopt. Kudos to Hospitality and Appreciation Committee chairs Clare Bradshaw and Sara Koenig who, along with several committee members, coordinated this fantastic luncheon. Yummy made-to-order salads, drinks, cookies and gift cards for every teacher and staff member in the building were a big hit. Teachers enjoyed selecting a card for a special treat and were so appreciative. Although we couldn’t serve them lunch, staff who are working virtually also receive a gift card, to recognize and thank all our teachers and staff for all they do for Langley students!

staff spotlight
Give a warm welcome to David Bennett! This is Mr. Bennett’s sixth year of teaching and first year at Langley. Mr. Bennett teaches history and stated that he really enjoys being at LHS. He added that Langley students are smart and hardworking, and that our teachers and administration are great to work with.

Mr. Bennett’s motivation to become a history teacher was apparent soon after he graduated from the University of Delaware, where he majored in sociology and minored in legal studies. “I wanted to have a positive impact on students. I’ve enjoyed history all my life and believe history is how we understand our world today.”

Especially with on-line learning this year, Mr. Bennett has tried to maximize the amount of student interaction in order enhance their school experience. He advises students to “keep doing your max effort and we’ll make the best of our situation this school year!”

Outside of Langley, Mr. Bennett spends time with his family, including his 14-month-old son. He also enjoys coaching lacrosse, lifting weights and hiking.

graduation gift idea
Need a graduation gift? A teacher gift? A thank you to a great coach or mentor? Give a gift that lasts – a leaf on the Legacy Tree! You choose the perfect engraving!

The Legacy Tree is growing in Langley's front entrance (across from the office) for all to enjoy for years to come. Donating a leaf (copper $50, silver $100, gold $200) or bird or acorn ($500), is a great way to pay tribute to your favorite people.

Funds raised will be used to landscape the third (and final!) Langley courtyard. The more metallic leaves on the Legacy Tree, the more actual leaves there will be in the courtyards. To order your leaf – or leaves! – visit the PTSA website. Questions? Email chrissielavin1@gmail.com.
