You Can Participate in History...
During the pandemic, the museum curator at the Richmond-Miles Museum has been working to catalog the many items so there is an official and organized record of them. In addition during the down time, the website has been updated and provides more information to assist in creating a more engaging way for the community to stay updated with the organization. To encourage more visit frequency, there is a different display featured on site at the museum each month and a brief recap of the exhibit is also highlighted on the webpage.
The goal is to have a new topic monthly to provide the community interesting displays of Caswell's history as it related to the topics. If you have not been to visit or it has been a while since you were there, we invite you to come by and to bring a friend, child or grandchild. We hope to be open more frequently as more volunteers are on board to assist.
This month's feature has two new exhibits; both a a look at historical Mother's Day and a Tribute to Memorial Day. Learn more here. Stop in on Wednesday afternoons in May to see it.
To see previous exhibits from this year click on the links below.
.
All are invited to visit the museum and to become members of the historical association. Memberships begin at $25 per year; a small investment in preserving the relics of our past.

Meet our Board of Directors
Tonya Pennix

|
With a background in both corporate and nonprofit organizations, Tonya also has assisted in running their own small family businesses too. Her husband had a background in farming and she began the journey to learn more about it by working with various groups like RAFI, PPFG and NRCS. This has helped to improve their roadside stand where their produce as well as that of other local farmers is sold. Tonya is also involved with the Caswell Farm Bureau LEAD program as an advocate for agriculture and was recently appointed to the board.

Maude J Gatewood Municipal Park
For a quiet break in the day, a breath of fresh air, or a walk to clear your thoughts, check out the Maud J Gatewood Park on Fire Tower Road. The area has a paved walking trail loop that provides a great place to enjoy a brief walk. You will also find a covered picnic area here too. There are ample parking spaces in a paved lot. Year round locals often spend their lunch breaks enjoying the area and connecting at the picnic space. If you haven't visited yet, be sure to stop by sometime soon.

A part of Caswell County is with every US military service member worldwide....
Did you know that? What a sense of pride I had when this was first shared with me several years ago. For years Christmas gifts from included items from the Royal Textile Mills - Duke Athletics Outlet. I had no idea that the organization that made the items was actually making an enormous impact in the world...all from right here in Caswell County!

In order to share more about the many businesses and organizations in the Chamber, this 'Salute to Success' introduces you to an organization that services the Caswell community but is located outside of the county. This month, please meet AuthoraCare Collective in Burlington, NC. They have supported the Chamber for years as a member.
Known previously as Alamance Caswell Hospice, the facility provides both palliative and hospice care. AuthoraCare Collective empowers people to be active participants in their care journey, enabling them to live on their own terms through personalized support for mind, body, and spirit.
So if you are seeking assistance for a loved one, please consider them.
