BUILDING OPERATING MANAGEMENT
5 Steps Buildings Should Take to Prevent Coronavirus Spread

What can actually be changed regarding HVAC and building design to help reduce the spread of COVID-19? Here are five specific steps.
What Working from Home Can't Replicate
Long Live the Office
Despite the majority of office workers still working remotely, the overall appetite for the traditional in-person work environment remains high. While those working from home have managed to remain productive, Cushman & Wakefield’s “The Future of Workplace” research report found that employees feel like they are losing meaningful connections and a sense of organizational culture, since certain learning and mentoring opportunities are not easily replicated in a virtual environment. Now more than ever, commercial tenants are recognizing the power that the office holds, and its ability to serve as an inspiring destination abound with opportunities for cultural connection, team bonding and innovation. Today’s property professionals must be prepared help clients fulfill their renewed workplace expectations, while leveraging other key considerations for these unprecedented times.

BOMA Georgia is hosting an Indoor Air Quality Webinar from 1-2 p.m. ET on Thursday, Sept. 10.

With buildings increasing in utilization, tenants may question if indoor environments can provide some measure of protection from COVID-19 exposure and airborne diseases. In this webinar, Bill Palmer and Bob Wilson with the National Air Filtration Association will give a deep dive into indoor air quality and how to create safeguards for your facility. Palmer and Wilson will explain how to plan environmental improvements, discuss the benefits and differences between air filtration and germicidal UV irradiation and give an overview of the importance of indoor air quality.

Palmer and Wilson each have almost 40 years in the air filtration industry and have helped create the best practices for the air filtration industry. They will help property professionals understand their key objectives when it comes to indoor quality and offer tips to help in the reduction of airborne transmission of viruses. They will offer potential solutions that are to the mutual benefit of tenants and property/facility managers and building engineers.

Evaluating Your HVAC System’s Readiness to Mitigate the Spread of SARS-CoV-2
Tuesday, September 8, 2020 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. ET
or
Thursday, September 10 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. ET
As businesses navigate reopening and resume operations, building owners, managers, and facilities teams across New York are working hard to develop safe reopening plans amid changing standards and requirements for their buildings. At this time, experts indicate that ventilation, filtration, and air cleaning provided by HVAC systems can reduce the airborne concentration of SARS-CoV-2, and thus reduce the risk of transmission through the air.
In collaboration with NYSERDA, ASHRAE will be hosting an educational webinar to expand the information and details provided in the online ASHRAE COVID-19 details for reopening buildings and the Building Readiness Plan for HVAC systems. The purpose of this webinar is to further explore available mitigation strategies and help identify the best approach for your specific building, its systems specific arrangement, and your needs.
This webinar will be held on Tuesday, September 8 and on Thursday, September 10. You only need to register for one session.
Join us for this webinar to learn:
  • How to develop and implement a Building Readiness Plan
  • Different engineering controls that can be applied to systems typically found in buildings
  • How to address concerns about your current and future designs
This webinar is being offered at no charge
