Dear Faith Family,

This past week I was given the gift of hearing a blessing upon our Presbytery by a man who is retiring from the pastorate after 40 years. Though I have only known Pastor Fred (aka Rev. Dr. Fred Lian) for about seven years, his spirit and wisdom have taught and strengthened me. In fact, some of Fred’s words have been etched in my heart as God uses them to shape me into more and more into his loved and loving daughter. And so I’m not surprised it happened during his blessing as well when he said:

“May the wind be at your back, and, when it’s not, may the Lord be in your face.”

He said more things both before and after that, but this is the part that stopped me in
my tracks.

“May the wind be at your back, and, when it’s not, may the Lord be in your face.”

The prayer grouping this week is a compilation of prayers and thoughts on prayer from a few men and women who know what it’s like to have the Lord in their face. May our hearts join with theirs as we read them and may each of us experience the Lord in our face as well. Click the box below to access the grouping.

With living hope,

Pastor Shelley
