Big changes are coming. You can feel it. When aren’t there big changes? Allow me to list a few; new President, County Supervisor, local City Council member, 5G, big screens getting bigger, Bluetooth everything, and EV cars only by 2030. We’re drowning in change or as I’m going to choose to look at it; we’re drowning in opportunity.
Time to think differently, shake things up, make some waves, swim upstream, or as our Board Chair Don Romo challenges “think big”! I’ve never had an issue with this having driven myself to sleep thinking big about how I was going to spend my lottery ticket winnings many times. Talk about big.
Following along with this thought I read with sorrow the recent passing of Tony Hsieh founder of Zappos. Here’s a person who never gave in to conventional thinking. He truly thought big. From most accounts he built his wealth following one core driver and that was always pleasing others. It worked and at a very early age he graduated from Harvard, built and sold his first business within 3-years of graduation for $265 million dollars and was on his way.
Tony’s story is much deeper and quite interesting. His is but one of many stories of children of immigrant parents who came to this country and made a difference.
Your Escondido Chamber of Commerce is committed to making a difference too. With a pro-active, engaged Board we’re laying the pathway to a new more vibrant and relative Chamber committed to raising the business community back to its rightful place as the hub of commerce in North County San Diego.
Think big? I wouldn’t want it any other way!
Sincerely,
James Rowten (JR)
