This Sunday
Adult Formation Session 3 Begins this Sunday

Welcome to the Lenten session of Adult Formation, as we journey with Jesus toward Jerusalem and the cross. Learn more >>
Dear saints,

This week I’ve been attending online the annual CEEP network conference, a conference we are slated to host next year. CEEP is a network of variously resourced congregations that imagines the future of the church often in conversation with voices beyond the church’s usual world. While we have heard this week from ecclesiastical leaders including Presiding Bishop Michael Curry and Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, we have also heard from Henry Timms, CEO and President of the Lincoln Center, and Darren Walker, President of the Ford Foundation. The question I hear being raised as we imagine our own futures—whether that be our individual futures or the future of All Saints’—is the one that asks: who is it that we are talking to? If your experience is like my own, one new conversation partner tends to lead to another, and in that is the gift of widening the circle of people who discern what God is up to in our lives and the possibilities before us that take more than just our own pair of eyes to see. As the coming of spring inclines us to look for signs of new life, I pray that we may also receive the gift of other’s eyes on our journey ahead.

Peace,
Simon Mainwaring

Adult Formation Session 3 Begins
Meditations in the Shadow of the Cross with the Rev. Natosha Reid Rice
Sundays, March 7, 14, and 21, 9:00-9:55 a.m., on Zoom
St. John’s Gospel has been described as a loving meditation in the shadow of the Cross. This explains, in part, Jesus’ flowing monologues as he sets his face toward Jerusalem. The cross also plays a central role in liberation theology, as God takes up the cause of the marginalized and the oppressed. Indeed, God on the cross shows us that Jesus speaks for, with, and to the crucified class, inviting us to do the same.

The MICAH Project: Lament
Sundays, March 7, 14, and 21, 9:00-9:55 a.m., on Zoom
Session 1: Mirrors of Hope: Psalms of Lament in a Hurting World with Dr. Robert Phillips

The first class in this three-part series about Lament provides healing from personal brokenness, especially during this time of COVID-19, using the Lament Psalm structure as a sacred vehicle to complain to God in faith. We will learn about the specific components of the Lament Psalm and will be guided through exercises that apply our understanding to develop our own personal Lament Psalms.

The Stations of the Cross
Sundays, March 7 and 14, 9:00-9:55 a.m., on Zoom
All Saints’ has commissioned powerful art depicting the stations of the cross. These 14 illustrations of Jesus’ passion and crucifixion shine a light on his final hours, and invite the faithful into a somber time of reflection. Join us as we contemplate this art, prayerfully exploring a pivotal moment in the Christian story.

Artists Ren Dillard (March 7) and Shanequa Gay (March 14) will lead these sessions.

Jesus on the Front Page
Sundays (ongoing), 9:00-9:55 a.m., on Zoom
Join this ongoing discussion of the news of the day and how we are called as Christians to respond in the public arena, in our private lives, and in our prayers.
