KDS DAR School Prepares for a New School Year
The return to school has been the topic of conversations across the nation since the COVID-19 pandemic began. Will children stay home, or will they return to school? The answer for Kate Duncan Smith DAR School is YES.

Awards Day and Graduation 2020
At Kate Duncan Smith DAR School, we were thrilled to celebrate our Class of 2020 during Awards Day and Graduation on July 27th. Although the festivities were held more than two months past the original date and were shared with family and friends virtually, it was still such a special time to applaud the accomplishments of the 104 outstanding young men and women who graduated.

Museum and Archives Hours
The KDS DAR School Museum & Archives is open and ready to share with visitors the rich history of the school and the community. Our new school year hours are:
Monday: 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Tuesday: 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Wednesday: CLOSED
Thursday: 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Friday: 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Saturday: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Sunday: CLOSED

Admission is FREE.
Elementary Restrooms Get a
Fresh New Look
Summer break is a time when many large projects that would be disruptive to instruction are undertaken on the KDS campus. One such project this summer was the renovation of the boys’ and girls’ restrooms in the Louise Willson Jacobs Building. The Jacobs Building is the original classroom building at KDS and currently houses grades 2-4.
Scenes of a New School Year
The 2020-2021 school year that began on August 20th brought with it many new regulations and practices adopted in an effort to protect the students, teachers, and staff. But the return to school brought back boys and girls who were excited and happy to be back at school after in-person classes were abruptly halted in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Here are a few scenes from the new school year…
KDS Welcomes New Faculty and Staff
Alumni Update - Sarah Hall 2014
Sarah Hall graduated from KDS DAR High School in 2014. While a student, Sarah worked hard and earned a number of scholarships including the Lauren Eddleman Memorial, Good Dudes, VFW Post 2739, and the Longman-Harris NSDAR. These scholarships helped Sarah study nursing at The University of Alabama in Huntsville. She is now a practicing RN.
