REC is prepared to respond again to any power outages resulting from the next pending ice storm. The Cooperative has proactively reached out to contractors and mutual-aid crews and at this time 150 workers will join the REC workforce in an effort to respond swiftly across the service territory.

How Your Power is Restored
Following a major storm, REC linemen work diligently to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. There is a step-by-step process they follow to restore power based on the storm-caused damage.
Groundbreaking Project
In January, REC connected the first grid-scale energy storage project by an electric cooperative in Virginia. You can read more about this project in your February Cooperative Living magazine.
Put a Hold on the Space Heater
Limit the use of space heaters, which can add significant costs to your electric bill. Instead, consider a small electric blanket or add some layers of clothing. See how much your space heater is costing you.
Safety is a Top Priority
When a storm hits, our crews are ready to respond to make repairs and restore service as quickly and safely as possible. We urge you to keep your family safe after a storm as well.

Although REC offices remain closed, we're still here for you at
