Dr. Wiley is an infectious diseases physician from Alabama who specializes in antimicrobial stewardship. She has given numerous talks on COVID-19 disparities on a local, regional, and national level and is dedicated to educating patients, their families, healthcare providers, and the community on the importance of COVID-19 vaccination.

Community Action Gets Vaccinated
The National Community Action Partnership (NCAP) has created this "Community Action Gets Vaccinated" design for Community Action Agencies and State Associations to use in promoting the importance of getting vaccinated. How about that band-aid with the Huggy Heart! The design can be used on stickers, buttons, t-shirts, poster, flyers, and many other possibilities. Click here to see the several options, including Spanish, for this vaccination design.

TENNESSEE
Check out vaccine successes in TN.....
TN - Over 1,600 individuals have been connected to COVID-19 vaccines between January—April 2021 through Knoxville-Knox County Community Action Committee's (CAC) collaborations with community partners. In an effort to be most effective with their response, CAC made an intentional effort to research and involve the voices of key community stakeholders. Focus groups were held to help guide education, outreach and messaging in partnership with the Knox County Health Department (KCHD) Minority Outreach Team among African American, Latino.......continue
 
CAC’s goal was to enhance the work of partners with boots on the ground.
April 2021 drive-thru clinic: CAC Transit gave free rides to vaccination and testing sites. Individuals could receive the vaccine on the van upon arrival.

The Big Pop Up Keeps Popping Up 
NC - The NCCAA Community Action Association successfully executed the second of four planned community-giving events on April 1 in Statesville, NC. The event is gaining popularity and "popping up" in other states like Georgia. NC's third drive-thru event will take place May 25th in Hertford at the Perquimans County Recreation Department. Distribution will start at 10 am until supplies run out.

"Dinner is Served"
Sunflower County senior citizens receive a free meal on Sunday
MS - MS State Association Executive Director, Nicole W. Claiborne, extends a congratulatory salute to Ms. Monica Hope and the staff of Sunflower-Humphreys Progress, Inc. for their ‘Dinner is Served’ project. The staff teamed up with the Sunflower County Sheriff's Department to distribute more than 600 meals and some gift bags containing hand sanitizer and other items to the aged senior citizens of the county.The project has been recognized by the Office of Child Nutrition as one of the WINNERs of the CACFP Week Virtual Cooking Contest. Dinner is Served is funded by the CSBG CARES ACT.
