Sunday Worship
In the courtyard at 10:00 a.m.
This week we welcome Rev. Laurel Mathewson from St. Luke's, North Park who will be celebrating with us while Mtr Regan is away at Family Camp in Julian. Charlette Preslar will also be at Family Camp so there will be NO Children's Chapel. If you are unable to join us in person you may access the service live on Facebook.
Easter Offerings 2021
St. Luke's, North Park
To honor Rev. Laurel Mathewson's visit this Sunday, please consider donating to this year's Easter offering. Mtr. Regan invited us to support our Diocesan children by making a gift to pass on to our siblings in Christ at St. Luke’s North Park. We hope that our funding will help St. Luke’s continue to respond quickly to emerging needs for the children of their congregation. You may drop your donation in the offering plate this Sunday or donate online here. Please select "St. Luke's" from the drop down menu.
Music Notes
Geoffrey Graham, Minister of Music
This Sunday, in celebration of the continuing joy of the Easter season, and in honor of the Sunday after Ascension Day, we’ve selected a solo by Tom Fettke, with a text by Linda Lee Johnson, an adaptation of Psalm 8, which text is under restricted copyright. Psalm 8 can be found in the Book of Common Prayer on page 592, and I recommend it. It’s a great Psalm, and Mr. Fettke has done a great job putting it to music.

Feast of the Ascension
Thursday, May 13
We will celebrate the Feast of the Ascension at the Healing Service this Thursday, May 13 at 10:00 a.m. This is a principal feast of the church year.

In the Episcopal Church Ascension Day is the occasion on which the risen Christ is taken into heaven after appearing to his followers for forty days (Acts 1:1-11, Mk 16:19). The Ascension marks the conclusion of Jesus’ post-resurrection appearances. It is the final elevation of his human nature to divine glory and the near presence of God. The Ascension is affirmed by the Nicene and Apostles’ Creeds.
Service Ministry Outreach
Spring Love
Service Ministry recently donated 18 spring table centerpieces to the Coronado Retirement Village for their dining hall. The plants wrapped in cute ladybug material each bore a "Happy Spring from your friends at Christ Church Coronado!" message. The centerpieces were delivered Friday, June 30 and Sarah Shealy Stump reported that they were THRILLED to receive them!
Neighborhood Food Pantry
St. Mark's, City Heights
The Neighborhood Food Cupboard at St. Mark's in City Heights is continually in need of supplies. Our collection of food slowed during the pandemic but we'd like to thank those parishioners who have continued to support this ministry throughout the last year. You may help by bringing non-perishable donations to church on Sunday or dropping them off at the parish office during the week. The greatest need right now is oatmeal, pasta sauce, canned tomato products, and drinks. Another option is to order directly from the Amazon wish list and products will be sent directly to the Cupboard's coordinator.
Pay it Forward
Vida Joven de Mexico
Christ Church directs 10% of all bequests made to the parish to the "Pay it Forward" fund. As the name implies, these are funds meant to be donated to worthy causes as determined by the Vestry. Earlier this year, the Vestry voted to continue our support of Vida Joven de Mexico by sending $20,000 to pay for English lessons and exercise classes for all of the children. Hopefully, some day soon we will be able to resume our fundraising events for and visits to Vida Joven.

Youth Group
Tuesday Evenings - 6:30 p.m.
In the Pentecost story, the Holy Spirit arrives with a rush of wind and tongues of fire. In an instant, everything has changed. What must it have been like to be in that room? What must it have been like to be a disciple? A little more than a year ago, everything changed in our lives too. There was no wind, just quiet. No fire, but a profound change just the same. In this four-week series, we will reflect on who we are, how we have changed, and where we are headed…both as individuals and as the church!

  • TONIGHT! Tuesday, May 11 - 6:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, May 18 - 6:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, May 23 - Pentecost Bonfire 6:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, June 1 - 6:30 p.m.
Picnic and Prayers
Family Eucharist this Summer
Is there anything more wonderful on a summer evening than spreading a picnic blanket on the ground and sharing delicious food and laughter with the people you love most? This Summer, your Christ Church family invites you to join us on the lawn for a simple Eucharist and a picnic dinner. Together we will share prayers, reflect on the Gospel, and gather at the Table. Don't forget to pack your picnic dinner and chairs. There is plenty of space on our lawn under the shade of the podocarpus trees. Please mark your calendar for 5:00 p.m. on June 27, July 18, and August 15th.

We are thrilled for this new way worship and play together this summer!
