Waterville UMC Ambassador
Dear Church Family,

While reflecting on all that is happening around us this scripture came to mind, “In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:6 As a congregation and individuals this is an important word from God. Are we willing to acknowledge that God is involved in our lives? Are we willing to allow God to “direct our paths?”

Our Church Council has been working on our vision and mission for the future of our church family. Here is the Vision: sharing, celebrating and teaching God’s love. All that we do now and into our future must be tested by this vision. Our mission, that is how we live out our vision is to serve, connect, love and give. This mission forms our core values.

This mission is guiding the decisions we are now making about our new building. How will our new building provide opportunities to serve, connect, love and give? One way is to make our building available to our community as much as possible. The image is that we, through God’s grace and provision, will partner with Waterville and the surrounding area in providing space for groups to use. Our new building is the place God has directed us to have A New Beginning. Can you see it. A place that is busy all the time. Our hospitality will lead us to live out our vision and mission.

Here is a New Building update: Your new building leadership and finance teams are in the process of reviewing the bids and projected budget for the new building. These teams have been working hard to bring about God’s call upon us to build a new building. God will always provide when we answer the call.

There have been questions about the bids and the general contractor is reviewing those questions and we are waiting on the response.
After all the questions are answered, the leadership team will provide you with updated information about our new building. This will include budget, time table and recommended start date. Please keep our new building teams in your prayers.

There are two approvals that are needed before signing contracts. One by our district Location and Building team and one by our congregation. Watch for weekly updates.

God is with us. Let us never forget the fullness of God’s love for each of us. God will see us through to the completion of the new building and we will celebrate the New Building it represents.

I pray that you know the love and peace only available through a relationship with God in Christ!

Pastor Mike

SEPTEMBER'S MISSION FOCUS

UMCOR ADMINISTRATIVE COST
TOGETHER, WE REACH CHILDREN, FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED DEVASTATION IN THE WAKE OF DISASTER.

September’s Mission Focus is to support the United Methodist Committee on Relief’s operating budget. None of the funds they collect for other mission projects through this agency (disaster response efforts, etc.) covers any of their operational costs, so 100% of the gifts they receive for mission projects goes directly to the projects themselves. And, unlike Global Ministries in the United Methodist Church, UMCOR does not receive apportionment funds to cover its administrative costs. In order to keep this wonderful worldwide blessing going let us support their behind-the-scene efforts for UMCOR.

To give, you may use the Mission envelopes provided at the offering boxes or mail your offering to WUMC. Please make sure to note in the check memo that it is for "UMCOR". Thank you!

Make a difference in a child's life...a family's life for their time on earth and...for eternity. Amen

NATIONAL AND GLOBAL DAY OF PRAYER AND REPENTANCE

SEPTEMBER 26, 2020

ON THE NATIONAL MALL, THROUGHOUT AMERICA & THE WORLD

For if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land ~ 2 Chronicles 7:14

CHRISTIAN LEADERS CALL FOR NATIONAL DAY OF REPENTANCE.

American pastors and ministry leaders from many denominations have issued a joint
call for a solemn assembly of worship, prayer, fasting, and weeping to take place in the nation's capital on SEPTEMBER 26, 2020. Named "The Return," this national day of repentance marks the 400th anniversary of the Pilgrims' landing in America.

However, the purpose of the event is more than a nod to the Founding Fathers. As the prophet Joel called for an appointed time for all believers to desperately cry out to God, this season of national turmoil and division is an appropriate time for all believers to plead with God to restore America.

In his July newsletter, Dr. James Dobson announced his plan to speak at The Return and encouraged his supporters to attend. Dobson wrote, "While it often appears that Western civilizations as we have known it is ins its closing days, there are millions of Christians in this country who love Jesus and are praying fervently for a spiritual renewal."

Franklin Graham is among other national leaders involved in The Return. For more information, to register, or to have a live simulcast link, visit thereturn.org.

Watch for additional details in future eBLASTS and communications from WUMC. We will attempt to check on the live simulcast link that is available and prepare to present it at the church on the day of the assembly so we can be a pair of this gathering, just as we do for worship service.
