March 20, 2020

Dear Students,

Due to the increase in COVID-19 cases in Northeast Ohio and in accordance with what many other institutions are implementing, CIM is implementing additional building access policies and further reducing hours. These policies will be in place until at least April 6; we will continue to monitor the situation and update you when additional information is available.

Beginning on Saturday, March 21 at 8pm when the building closes, no students will be permitted to access the main building for any reason. You may access the building until 8pm today and between 8am and 8pm tomorrow (Saturday, March 21) to retrieve any items you will need. In addition, beginning Monday, March 23 at 12:01am, only students authorized to live in Cutter House will be allowed access to the residence hall.

If you live off-campus but had planned to continue to receive your mail or packages at CIM, please forward your mail to your off-campus residence using the change-of-address request at usps.com . (Refer to the email sent on March 17 for more information.) Please use your off-campus address for all packages and deliveries. Those still living in Cutter House will receive separate instructions about mail and packages.

Those who rely on CIM-owned instruments for personal practice and lessons should be in touch with their teachers to discuss arrangements for continuing your work.

CIM’s leadership has made this decision out of concern for the safety and well-being of all of CIM’s community members. We understand the impact this will have on those of you who have been coming to campus for individual practice, and appreciate your understanding of the seriousness of this decision.
