Bridge Club Has A New Name and Gear Box
The Bridge Intermediates Group is returning to Monday Bridge at 1:00 pm at the Tipp City Public Library. Rob Jones took on the monumental task in 2012 of instructing a group of beginning players along with several others looking to refresh their bridge skills. The lingo and a handful of conventions was like learning a new language for most everyone.

Over time a few players moved away and new players from adjacent areas to Tipp City joined. The group continues to evolve. The past two years the group had switched to playing on Friday afternoons.

On June 13th the Bridge Intermediates honored Renee Besecker’s memory with the dedication of a “bridge gear box”. The library received a donation in Renee’s name supporting the bridge group and adult programming in early 2022. The “wooden gear box” was commissioned with Greg Slattery. Fond memories of Renee will cross players' thoughts every week when opening the box to retrieve score pads and playing cards.

The Bridge Intermediates are excited about returning to the tradition of playing on Mondays starting in June. Everyone who has an interest in playing bridge can join in at 1:00 pm. All inquiries should be directed to the Tipp City Public Library (937) 667-3826.

New Sensory Bags Are Here
Thanks to funds from a grant from the Tipp City Foundation, The Tipp City Library has recently made a limited number of children's sensory bags available. Sensory bags can be helpful for children with anxiety, ADHD, to fine tune motor skills, or just to have fun with. Each bag contains 1 set of headphones, 1 set of monkey noodles, 2 bean bag squishy shapes, 2 stress balls, and 5 assorted fidget toys. Sensory bags are part of our library of things and may be checked out for a total of 7 days. If all bags are checked out, holds may be placed. At this time we are not accepting renewals.

Aperture: A Discussion of Silent Light
June 16
6:30-7:30 p.m.

Movies have a way of capturing our imagination and lodging in our memory like no other popular art form can.

July's selection is Silent Light, which tells the story of Johan, a married Mennonite who maintains a quiet, simplistic lifestyle in rural Mexico, experiences a moral dilemma as a result of his passionate -- and torturously public -- affair with Marianne, a neighbor. As he goes through the ritualistic motions of his daily life in a bucolic landscape, he is forced to weigh his love for Marianne against the survival of his marriage, his family, and his deeply felt religious beliefs.

This program was made possible with support from the Tipp City Foundation and the American Library Association’s American Rescue Plan: Humanities Grants for Libraries program.
