HOPE Amendment and Task Force Bills Move Forward
Your Voice Matters
SJR 12 (the HOPE Amendment to declare access to healthcare as a right) along with SB 428 (to continue the Task Force on Universal Health Care) had Public Hearings in the Senate Health Care Committee on February 24.

The meeting started off by honoring champion of healthcare as a right, former Rep. Mitch Greenlick. Watch the energizing testimony honoring Rep. Greenlick and the support for the two bills throughout the hearing.

All passed out of Committee on March 1. Watch the votes beginning at the 1:42:00 mark. SJR 12 was moved to the Senate Floor with a "be adopted" recommendation.

SB 428 will likely move on to the Ways and Means Committee.

With your help that these bills will continue to move forward. Time to ensure healthcare access is a right. Is your state representative or senator a sponsor? If yes, thank them. If not, ask them to sponsor. Check for sponsorship of HJR 14 or SJR 12, and SB 428. Find your legislator.

Call, e-mail, and schedule meetings with your state representatives and senators. (They will usually set one up using Zoom. There's no need to travel. It's convenient for you and for them.)
  • Find your legislator.
  • Share your healthcare story.
  • Tell them your thoughts on "healthcare as a human right."

Does your Employer Match Your Charitable Gifts?
Many businesses match donations to 501(c)(3) nonprofits like HCAO. The process is pretty easy. Search for your company here.
  • If you find it, contact your company's Human Resources' Dept. to verify and find out how it works.
  • Unable to find company, check with your Human Resources' Dept. anyway. Perhaps it wasn't listed.
  • Next donate to HCAO and follow the process that your company requires to get the match.

Volunteering with HCAO. Some companies make donations for your volunteer hours.

Examples of companies that may match. U.S. Bank, Columbia Sportswear, State Farm Insurance, Hewlett Packard, Intel.

Your Financial Support Is Needed
HCAO's ability to educate about and advocate for universal health care is possible ONLY because of YOU.
