The past months of the Black Lives Matter Movement have confirmed once again: The only way to challenge our racist, militarized system is with the power of people demanding system change.

We must remain mobilized through the election and beyond.

Neither corporate-funded party is responding to the call. The people will not win the change we need through the ballot box alone. Those two candidates are ignoring what the super-majority of people across the country support:
  • improved Medicare for All,
  • a robust Green New Deal,
  • an end to inequality,
  • taxation of the wealthy, and
  • an end to the never-ending wars and US imperialism that drain money away from funding for human needs.

WILPF US calls for a permanent extension of the UN Global Ceasefire. With that, we call for a review and audit to identify the 50% to cut from entire military spending -- with moving the money to human needs. Wars and military activities pollute the planet and accelerate global heating and climate chaos. Climate chaos especially harms the poor, women, and children.

August 28 is the anniversary of the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. Today, the renewed protests are even more widespread and uphold the vision of that march, including the demand for an end to police brutality. People's movements are insisting on fundamental changes!

In this time of multiple crises, we see new forms emerging. Claiming the streets of our communities as ours, uniting with allies, supporting system change, we seek the people's peace and freedom.

A Green New Deal can support a green new world, where we can breathe in our homes, living in peace!

No matter who is elected, we must stay mobilized, through the end of 2020, through 2021, and onward.
