February 3, 2020
From the Desk of Ellen Knippel, Principal

Dear Parents,
Well, February is upon us! We had a wonderful Catholic School's Week! I hope your children enjoyed it as much as our teachers did!

For the next few weeks, I'd like to use my column to remind everyone about recess behavior. We have had a lot of rough play on the playground at recess. Things like punching, kicking and pushing. Often I believe it is just "play" where they are wrestling or playing a game that gets out of hand.  I ask that you remind your children about appropriate play at recess . Students are getting hurt because of all of the "accidents" that have happened during rough play. With the snow melting and refreezing, the snowbanks are becoming very icy. We have been keeping the students off the snow hills but, provided they have boots, they may play on the snowy, grassy areas. We can always change that if we get more snow!

Finally, I feel like I am beginning to sound like a broken record but I ask that you please keep your child HOME if they are sick! Giving them Tylenol/ibuprofen for a fever in the morning before school is just spreading germs around to the others in your child's class (and the staff). When the this wears off, the fever is usually back and we have to call home. If your child is feeling sick in the morning, please don't tell them to "tough it out" and go to school (especially if this is unusual behavior for your child). The Pewaukee public schools are reporting a huge number of cases of the flu and it is spreading quickly. I know and understand it is sometimes difficult to stay home when you work full time (I lived through it with my own children) but it is important for the health of others. As a rule of thumb if your child's temp is over 99.5 we will generally call you and let you know. If your child's temp is over 100.4 we will send them home. Thanks for your assistance in the matter.

Blessings,

Mrs. Ellen Knippel

Bus Friends Beware
Dousman has a new rule: If a child does not reside within the Kettle Moraine school district, s/he may NOT ride home with a friend who does live within the district.  Example: Tommy lives in Pewaukee.  Tommy may NOT ride the bus home with Johnny who lives in Delafield.
