Online Service:
Between One World and the Next (10:30 am)
The acclaimed writer Arundhati Roy has written of the pandemic as a portal from one world the next. As orders to shelter in place are extended again, many of us are trying to sift through the tea leaves for a glimpse at the world to come. What wisdom guides us when our journey, inner or outer, brings us into liminal places? How do we befriend the unknown?

Sunday Circle - 9:00 am
Since Social Distancing means we can't gather in our Fireside Room, we have evolved a Zooming Circle. See connection information below.
As we all adapt to current events we have departed from our previous schedule of topics and leaders and re-purposed our group to simply be a place where, each week, we can
Connect in Community
Share Humor and Hope
Support Creativity and Curiosity
A volunteer leader welcomes participants, lights a chalice, and offers a reading and topic for the day, often one that has evolved from the previous week's conversation. We will have a few minutes of silence for contemplation, and then take turns responding with thoughts or asking related questions. We also make time for shared joys and concerns.
Use the following link for Sunday Circle at 9:00 am:

Joyous Beltane! Whether you gather flowers, dance lightly, or just take time to appreciate spring is here, Beltane is a celebration that opens the veil, and prepares us for crossing the threshold into summer. I invite you to be in the moment and enjoy what blessings we have in our lives.
This month our congregation takes on the theme of thresholds. When we look out a window we are looking through a threshold. When we leave our homes for essential business or get better exercise in the fresh air, we cross a threshold. Now as we hear of the 4 stages we will go through, from stay at home to meeting in large groups, we anticipate those thresholds and what they will mean in our lives. Every time we encounter a threshold, there is an opportunity to notice something deeper, something that is important to us, and something to be grateful for.

This Week in Religious Exploration
|
For Children and Youth Zoom meetings to find connections with each other, please email me at revlynne@gmail.com for links and information. We currently have 3 Sunday meeting groups: preschool to 2nd grade, middle school, and high school.
In prior weeks I invited you to tend to a space in your home, an altar, a place to remember sacred space. There can be a chalice, a sounding instrument - something that can call one to be present in this moment, a gratitude and grace bowl to recall our joys and sorrows, and pictures and objects that mean something special to you, or represent what you value most, or represent the season or holiday.
This week I invite you to add photos, drawings or symbolic tokens that remind you of a threshold that is important to you. It can be a window, a doorway, a challenge. You can take a photo of it and print it up, or draw your representation of the threshold. It might even be a sculpture of the door or window made from items around your home. Whatever you choose, let it be a reminder that we have looked through and stepped over many thresholds before, and we will do so again with courage and integrity to be the best we can be in the moment.
So until next week, be safe, stay healthy and sleep well. For joy and justice in an imperfect world, Rev. Lynne Scarpa Director of Family Ministries Revlynne@uumarin.org

We're taking advantage of this time when the church is empty to make some improvements. On Wednesday 4/22, Valerie Taylor, Karen Auroy, and Joan Smith painted our banged-up halls (while maintaining social distance and wearing masks, of course!)
We've got more to do, so if you'd like to join us, please contact Valerie or Karen.
