As the director of the Roselle Public Library, it is my goal to provide all kinds of information to the people who live in the community that I serve. I also am a very involved member of the New Jersey Library Association.
All that I am learning through my work with the Community Cancer Advisory Board has helped me to share the information and programming that the CCAB provides with other librarians and libraries across the state. On the local level, my time with the CCAB has encouraged me to work more closely with the local health board to provide joint programming that benefits our community.
As both a librarian and as an advocate, providing people with data to help them make good choices is one of the key things that I do professionally. To me, health literacy is an integral part of what the library offers, along with basic literacy, early childhood literacy, financial literacy, and information literacy. On a personal level, I have lost people that I love to cancer. Being part of the fight against this disease even in a small way helps me to honor them and keep their memory alive
