Long Grove E-Newsletter Edition 63                              April 8, 2020
Good morning!

An E-news communication sent by the Village yesterday early evening included a link to all Long Grove restaurants/essential businesses providing food and/or carryout/curbside and delivery, along with their contact information, Unfortunately, the link is not functional

Please see the revised link  here , and also included in the article on the left margin - which encourages all of us to support our local businesses during this challenging time! The Village regrets this error.

Thank you!
Village of Long Grove

This special E-newsletter includes information about the extension of Governor's Pritzker's Stay at Home order, service reminders and changes for Waste Management, and an update on the status of the RPC Bridge improvement project. Please also consider supporting businesses that remain open throughout the Village, completing the U.S. Census during this 'stay at home time' to help Long Grove be counted and learning more about a local group that is sewing and delivering face masks to area healthcare locations!

Thank you!

The New Normal in Light of the  'Stay at Home' Order Extension
As many of our residents may already know, Governor J.B. Pritzker extended the Stay at Home order, which will now be in effect through April 30, 2020. Village Hall remains closed to the public, but Village services are continuing. If you have questions, please click here to submit a request for Village staff, and a staff member will get back to you as soon as possible.

Everyone is asked to do their part to continue to abide by the governor's order, by staying at home and working from home, if possible. We all should be practicing safe social distancing (staying 6-feet away from individuals) and avoiding home gatherings. HOA presidents are encouraged to reach out, or have other HOA members reach out to elderly/at-risk neighbors to ensure they are faring well and have enough supplies- especially if they live alone. Click here for the latest information on the number of cases announced by Governor Pritzker today during his daily press conference.

To track the number of positive COVID-19 cases in Long Grove and in Lake County on a daily basis, the Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center's dashboard can be found here. For additional information about COVID-19, visit the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) website here. IDPH also has released an additional website page that breaks down the number of positive cases by zip code. Click here to view it.
Continue to Support Essential Businesses!

While many businesses have been forced to close their doors due to the governor's order, others are continuing to operate and they need the support of our community!

Essential services are provided by grocery stores, pharmacies, businesses that provide home essentials and restaurants that can provide carryout/curbside pickup or delivery. On a daily basis, Sunset Foods is offering exclusive shopping for the elderly and others who are at a high risk due to health issues, to shop between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. Menards is no longer allowing children under the age of 16 or pets in any of their stores,  due to the COVID-19 crisis. The goal is to lessen the number of people shopping in their stores in order to help reduce COVID-19 exposures.

Restaurants and other essential businesses throughout Long Grove also need our support as well. Please click here for a list of all Long Grove restaurants and other essential businesses that provide food. Please click  this link to view current menus from downtown Long Grove businesses, and click here for businesses that remain open and those that are closed.

The RPC Bridge Will Be Returning Soon

The Robert Parker Coffin (RPC) Bridge has been removed from its normal location for the final stages of improvements, which includes abutment repairs and painting, along with the installation of a new wooden cover. This work is expected to take roughly four months to complete. Please visit this link for updates and pictures of the bridge in its present state, along with scenes from areas around it, as crews work to complete this project and bring the bridge back to its former glory!
It's the Perfect Time to Complete the  U.S. Census!
Now is as important as ever to complete the U.S. Census, so that Long Grove is able to receive grants, resources and other community-building opportunities. The census can be completed online, via phone, or the paper version. There are many ways to complete it, so, let's all be sure to make Long Grove count!

Some residents have contacted the Village reporting they received two, 2020 Census questionnaires - one with the RFD address and one with the street name address - and were not clear on which one to submit. It is recommended to submit the street name address questionnaire. However, if you have already sent in your questionnaire under the RFD address, it will still be counted. Census staff is aware of the potential for duplicates and they will reference the questionnaires in order to avoid double counting. For more information, please visit  census.gov
Waste Management Reminders
Waste Management is reminding residents to be sure to bag all trash when putting it out for pickup. The volume of pickups continues to grow due to more people abiding by the Governor's order to stay at home. Please note: latex gloves are to be discarded along with the normal trash and not in the recycling bin. As a reminder, b ulky item collection is also suspended. This includes weekly items or extra call-in service for large items normally left outside the cart for pickup. For more information, click  here . Residents can also sign up for WM email and/or text alerts  here . WM has also successfully transitioned its call center, though waiting times may be longer than usual. Please note: The time of day that carts are picked up may vary relative to the normal pickup times. WM asks that residents have carts out ready to be services the night before pickup day.
Group Seeks Volunteers to Donate, Sew or Deliver Face Masks
A Facebook Group called Frontline Fabric Mask has been formed, with a purpose to help healthcare workers in Lake County by sewing protective fabric face masks for them. The group is already supplying face masks to Advocate Condell Medical Center, Highland Park Hospital, Coventry Village, Journey Care in Barrington, and many others.

Volunteers are needed to: 1) supply/donate 100% woven cotton fabric (quilting/shirting type), sewing thread and elastic, 2) cut fabric based on a pattern, 3) sew masks, and 4) pick up/drop off supplies and masks between the various volunteers.  If you're interested in getting involved, please visit this link to be paired up with a local coordinator.
